Sept. 23 - West Jordan 49, Copper Hills 19

Story of the game - Cameron Peacock ran for 210 yards and scored
four touchdowns to help West Jordan rally from an early deficit to beat
rival Copper Hills for the 18th straight time.

West Jordan's highlights - The Jaguars were able to run the football
and gave the Grizzlies a steady dose. QB Michael Moorehead had 113
yards and also had a good night passing. The Jags scored six straight
touchdowns and spoiled their rival's homecoming.

Copper Hills' highlights - Henry Kemp is establishing himself as a
threat. He ran for over 100 yards and also got the Grizzlies on the
scoreboard first on a 58-yard reception. Tommy Ligman also had a
good game with 95 rushing yards.

Statistical notes - West Jordan had 487 total yards, and dominated time
of possession with their running game. CH's Zach Smith caught two
passes for 75 yards. Moorehead completed 12 of 17 passes, but had
just one touchdown. Moorehead had a scoring run of 72 yards.

What we learned from this game - Copper Hills felt like it had a chance
to finally beat the Jaguars, but simply couldn't keep up. The Jags had
one of their best running games in recent years.

Next - West Jordan plays at Cottonwood. Copper Hills has a home
game against Jordan.

Aug. 26 - Kearns 31, Copper Hills 0

Story of the game - Adrian Mejia and James Felila anchored Kearns'
running game and Afuvai Le'iato returned an interception for a
touchdown to lift Kearns past Copper Hills in a non-region game.

Copper Hills' highlights - The Grizzlies couldn't move the football. They
had just 90 total yards and four different players took snaps at QB. The
defense played tough, though, as Christian Rixe had 12 tackles.

Kearns' highlights - The Cougars took a 24-0 lead into halftime. Felila,
who took over at RB after injuries to Kearns' first two backs, scored three
touchdowns. Brock Whetman added a 45-yard field goal.

Statistical notes - Kearns had 164 rushing yards and averaged about
five yards/carry. Both teams didn't pass the ball well. Kearns had five
different receivers catch passes. Le'iato and Hetu Mataele had picks for
Kearns.

What we learned from this game - After moving the ball pretty well in
the opener, Copper Hills couldn't do anything here. Afterward, coach Kai
Kapele said the Cougars adjusted to everything CH tried.

Aug. 19 - Copper Hills 27, Taylorsville 18

Story of the game - Tommy Ligman rushed for 93 yards and Dan Olson
returned a fumble for a touchdown as Copper Hills pulled away from
Taylorsville in the second half in the season opener for both teams.

Copper Hills highlights - The Grizzlies trailed early but rallied to take a
14-12 halftime lead. Olson's fumble return was the only score until the
fourth quarter. QB Aaron Khan ran 12 yards for a score to give CH some
breathing room.

Taylorsville's highlights - Dylan Wilson had a great night. He didn't
throw much, but ran for 204 yards and three touchdowns, including an
87-yarder in the second quarter. Wilson had an 8-yard TD run late in the
game, but the Warriors couldn't convert on the two-point PAT.

Statistical notes - Taylorsville rushed for 302 yards, its most in a long
time. Ligman passed twice and completed both for 60 yards. Zach
Smith caught four passes for 116 yards.

What we learned from this game - Copper Hills got the season off to a
good start, and now hopes to use that momentum to earn a few more
wins.
