Oct. 30 - Park City 57, Grantsville 28

Story of the game - Dylan Chenoweth rushed for 133 yards and Erik
Walker had 117 more as Park City jumped to a big halftime lead and
coasted to a 3A playoff win over Grantsville.

Grantsville's best moment - The Cowboys trailed 36-6 at halftime, but
played with the Miners in the second half. QB Bridger Boman threw for
two touchdowns in the game.

Park City's best moment - The Miners dominated the line of
scrimmage, and ran at will, scoring virtually every time they had the ball
in the opening half. The Miners put up more points than any other team
did against Grantsville all season.

What we learned from this game - Grantsville finished the season with
a 3-7 record. This game was over quickly. Park City could challenge for
the 3A title.

Next - Grantsville is finished for the season. Park City advanced to play
host to Delta next Friday.

Oct. 23 - Grantsville 13, Ben Lomond 10

Story of the game - Lincoln Kelly returned a kickoff 89 yards for a
touchdown, and that sparked Grantsville's comeback win that gave the
Cowboys a berth in the 3A playoffs.

Grantsville's best moment - Trailing 10-0, Kelly got the Cowboys
moving. Grantsville went ahead in the fourth quarter on a 16-yard run by
QB Bridger Boman. Kurt Fonger was the team's leading rusher with 72
yards.

Ben Lomond's best moment - Zach Boden's 21-yard field goal was the
only scoring in the first half. Ben Lomond then made it 10-0 on a 9-yard
run by Jared Jackson, but it was shortlived.

What we learned from this game - The winner of this game got the
playoff berth, so Grantsville will play for another week. Five teams in the
six-team region make it to the post-season.

Next - Grantsville will open the 3A playoffs at Park City. Ben Lomond is
done for the season.

Oct. 16 - Bear River 47, Grantsville 14

Story of the game - Payton Wells and Dax Sederholm each scored two
touchdowns as Bear River broke the game open in the second half and
ruined Grantsville's homecoming in a Region 11 game.

Grantsville's best moment - The Cowboys scored first on an 11-yard
run by Bryce Ekins, but the celebration was short-lived because Bear
River returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. QB Bridger Boman
hit Dalen Erickson for a score late in the second quarter to keep the
game competitive.

Bear River's best moment - Sederholm's kickoff return changed the
game, and prevented Grantsville from keeping the momentum. QB
Wells had a good game, and kept Grantsville's defense guessing.

What we learned from this game - The loss means next week's game
against Ben Lomond will determine who earns the last playoff berth
from Region 11. It also clinched a spot for Bear River.

Next - Grantsville takes on Ben Lomond. Bear River plays at Judge
Memorial.

Oct. 9 - Judge Memorial 28, Grantsville 14

Story of the game - Paul Clark was a second-half wrecking crew,
returning a punt 74 yards for a touchdown and then added a 58-yard run
for another score as Judge broke open a close game and downed
Grantsville in a Region 11 contest.

Grantsville's best moment - The Cowboys never led, but stayed with
Judge in the first half, which ended tied 14-14. Jared Knight caught a
43-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and then Boman added a
short run for the other score.

Judge's best moment - Clark has been going this all season, and his
second-half heroism delighted the home crowd, which saw the team
win on Granite's field for the first time. The win clinched a 3A playoff
berth.

What we learned from this game - This was a winnable game for the
Cowboys, who now must win at least one of their last two games to
reach the postseason. Five schools from Region 11 will go.

Next - Grantsville takes on Bear River at home. Judge travels to Morgan.

Sept. 30 - Grantsville 35, Tooele 28

Story of the game - RB Kort Fonger rushed for 100 yards, and Bryce
Ekins scooted 20 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with less than a
minute remaining as Grantsville downed Tooele in a non-region battle
of inner-county rivals.

Grantsville's best moment - This game went back-and-forth, but the
difference was Grantsville's second-half defense, and the fact it forced a
couple of Tooele turnovers. QB Bridger Boman had a decent night, and
hooked up with WR Tyson Hutchins on a pair of touchdown passes. It
was the first time these teams have played since 2006.

Tooele's best moment - The Buffaloes were ahead or tied throughout
the first half which ended 21-21. QB Nick Hyde had a good game until
being injured in the fourth quarter. The Buffs had a fourth-quarter drive
ended on downs at the Grantsville 12-yard line.

What we learned from this game - This is why this game should be
played every year. It's a good rivalry full of excitement. It was only
Grantsville's second win, but it will the one the players will remember for
the rest of their lives.

Next - Grantsville travels to Judge Memorial. Tooele goes to Woods
Cross.

Sept. 25 - Juan Diego 35, Grantsville 7

Story of the game - Cody Stevenson threw three touchdown passes,
including two long ones to Keegan Anderson, and Juan Diego's
defense shut down Grantsville in this Region 11 game.

Grantsville's best moment - The Cowboys didn't score until the fourth
quarter, when Bridger Boman hit Jared Knight on a 30-yard scoring
pass to prevent the shutout.

Juan Diego's best moment - The Soaring Eagle led 28-0 at halftime,
thanks to Stevenson's touchdown throws and a 52-yard run by Lars
Gunderson. Tana Vea had a 21-yard TD run in the third quarter.

What we learned from this game - Grantsville has opened region play
with two of the best teams. The Cowboys stayed competitive in each.

Next - Grantsville returns home to play Tooele in a non-region rivalry
game.
Juan Diego travels to Pocatello to play Highland (Idaho).

Sept. 18 - Morgan 35, Grantsville 21

Story of the game - Jordan Wamsley rushed for three touchdowns, and
also caught a pass for a score, as Morgan's offense kept Grantsville off
the field most of the game en route to a Region 11 victory.

Grantsville's best moment - Tyson Hutchins caught a 40-yard
touchdown pass from Bridger Boman to give the Cowboys the early
lead. Boman was Grantsville's leading rusher, too, with 132 yards.

Morgan's best moment - The Trojans rushed for 300 yards, and
averaged six yards per carry. Lawson Toomer was the leading ball
carrier with 92 yards. Defensively, Braden Saunders had two
interceptions.

What we learned from this game - Morgan may challenge for the
region title, and dropped Grantsville to 0-1 in region play.

Next - Grantsville travels to Juan Diego. Morgan returns home to play
Bear River.

Sept. 4 - Millard 33, Grantsville 14

Story of the game - Pancho Alcala ran for two touchdowns and returned
a punt for another score as Millard routed Grantsville in a non-region
game.

Grantsville's best moment - The Cowboys fell behind 19-0 in the first
quarter, and had to play catch-up after that. Tyson Hutchins and Bryce
Ekins had Grantsville's scores.

Millard's best moment - The Eagles dominated from the start. Alcala
had a great game, and Kade Wilcox also had a couple of scores. Millard
put the game away with a 14-point third quarter.

What we learned from this game - This was a tough loss for
Grantsville because the Cowboys never made this a game. Millard is a
tough place to play, but Grantsville has to beat the 2A teams to be
competitive in 3A.

Next - Grantsville travels to play Carbon. Millard plays host to Grand.

Aug. 28 - Grantsville 20, North Sanpete 7

Story of the game - QB Bridger Boman passed for 246 yards and ran
for 88 more as Grantsville blew past North Sanpete for its first win of the
season.

Grantsville's best moment - The Cowboys led the entire game, and the
Bridger-Tyson Hutchins connection was the key. Hutchins caught seven
passes for 176 yards, including one touchdown.

North Sanpete's best moment - The Hawks drove to the Grantsville
2-yard line early in the game, but failed on fourth down. Their only score
came on a 55-yard pass from Rhett Bird to Dylan Larsen.

What we learned from this game - The Cowboys improved their record
to 1-1 and clearly outplayed this 2A school. It's a win in front of the home
crowd, but not sure if this will help prepare the team for future games.

Next - Grantsville travels to play Millard, while North Sanpete has the
week off before playing Maple Mountain Sept. 11.

Aug. 21 - Wasatch 20, Grantsville 14

Story of the game - QB Payton Davis threw for two touchdowns and ran
for another as Wasatch took the early lead and then held off a
Grantsville rally in the fourth quarter.

Grantsville's best moment - The Cowboys offense sputtered until the
fourth quarter. Kurt Fonger scored on a 1-yard run to get Grantsville on
the scoreboard. Later, Bridger Boman scored from 10 yards out with
less than a minute left. The rally ended when Wasatch recovered the
ensuing on-sides kick.

Wasatch's best moment - The Wasps never trailed, claiming a 13-0
lead in the first quarter. Their big play came after Grantsville scored to
make it a game. That's when Davis found Alex Probst on a 31-yard
scoring pass that made the difference in the game.

What we learned from this game - This season has started just like
last year, with a tough loss to Wasatch. The Cowboys played tough in
their season opener and now have the next three games at home. This
new region will be difficult, but probably better than before. We'll see.

Next - Grantsville plays host to North Sanpete. Wasatch takes on Ben
Lomond at home.
