Nov. 7 - Pine View 10, Highland 7
Story of the game - Michael Stephenson kicked a 36-yard field goal
with 1:27 to go and the Panthers' defense limited the Rams to a
single score and claimed a tough 4-A playoff win on their home field.
Highland's best moment - Trailing 7-0 at halftime, QB Nick Orchard
led Highland on a 90-yard, 20-play drive that took up most of the third
quarter. Muli Kinikini scored the tying touchdown.
Pine View's best moment - The Panthers' defense barely stopped
Highland on a fake punt in the fourth quarter. They moved the ball
downfield, which set up Stephenson's FG. To add to the excitement,
the ball barely cleared the crossbar.
What was learned from the game - The Rams season is gone, but
not forgotten. Highland improved throughout the season, and made it
further in the playoff than last year. The defense kept them in every
game.
Next - Highland is done. Pine View advances to play Cottonwood in a
4-A semifinal at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Oct. 31 - Highland 12, Bountiful 10
Story of the game - Hayes Hicken kicked a 32-yard field goal late in
the game as Highland took advantage of a fumbled punt and beat
Bountiful in the first round of the 4-A playoff game.
Highland's best moment - The Rams' defense stuffed Bountiful most
of the game, but their offense was hampered by the Braves' defense
and penalties. QB Nick Orchard hit Nate Fakahafua with a 35-yard
TD pass in third quarter, but the extra point was blocked. The Rams
seemed headed for a first-round loss until the muffed punt.
Bountiful's best moment - The Braves led 10-0 at halftime, thanks to
a TD pass from QB Drew Miner to Cullen Clark, and a 34-yard FG by
Joe Lake. The Braves couldn't score in the second half.
What was learned from the game - Highland emerged the winner
between two evenly matched teams. The road win had to feel good.
Next - The Rams advance and play at Pine View Nov. 7. Bountiful is
done for the season.

Oct. 23 - Highland 42, Murray 0
Story of the game - Nick Orchard passed for two touchdowns and
Sione Inukihaangana scored twice as Highland had no trouble with
Murray, padding its statistics in the Region 6 win.
Highland's best moment - Highland led just 7-0 after the first quarter,
but Bridger Walzer, Toi Taufa and Inukihaangana picked up TDs
before halftime to give the Rams a comfortable halftime lead. Latu
Heimuli and Sam Nielson keyed the Rams' second shutout in their
last three games.
Murray's best moment - The Spartans season is finally over.
Keeping the game close, which they did in the first quarter, was
probably Murray's high moment.
What was learned from the game - Highland is playing good football.
Its offense and defense are playing the best all season, and the
Rams could surprise someone in the post-season.
Next - Highland advances to play at Bountiful in a first-round 4-A
playoff game. Murray's season is done.

Oct. 15 - Highland 35, West 12
Story of the game - QB Nick Orchard ran for 177 yards and three
touchdowns, and passed for another as Highland greatly improved its
position in the Region 6 standings with a convincing home win over
West.
Highland's best moment - Orchard showed his speed several times
with TD runs of 30 and 69 yards on option plays. The senior also
threw a 46-yard scoring pass to Josh Anderson. Highland led just
14-12 at halftime, but dominated after that. The Rams' defense
allowed just one "big" play in the second half, and it didn't result in any
points.
West's best moment - The second quarter. RB Tana Afeaki had 90
yards on 21 carries for the game, including a 5-yard TD run. A few
minutes later, Vai Mafi returned a fumble that set up QB Daniel Wray's
short TD run.
What was learned from the game - Highland just has to beat Murray
next week to earn the third seed from the region. West will probably
get the fourth seed.
Next - Highland ends the regular season with a home game against
Murray. West returns home to take on East.

Oct. 10 - Highland 35, Cyprus 0
Story of the game - Muli Kinikini returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and Highland played great defense and blocked a field goal
en route to a shutout Region 6 victory over Cyprus.
Highland's best moment - QB Nick Orchard rushed 10 times for 70 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown run. The Rams led 21-0 at
halftime, and Kinikini's kickoff return led off the third quarter. Bridger Walzer had 90 yards on just four carries.
Cyprus' best moment - Not much to tell. There's something about the Pirates' home field as they are 1-3 there, with three shutout
losses. Cyprus is in a battle for the last playoff berth offered in the region.
What was learned from the game - This was Highland's first shutout of the season. The Rams, however, have played good defense in
all of their region games.
Next - Highland finishes the regular season with two home games, starting with West next week. Cyprus travels to East.

Oct. 3 - Cottonwood 32, Highland 21
Story of the game - QB Steve Romero threw three long touchdown passes, which helped offset five turnovers, and the Colts built a big
lead and held on to beat Highland. The win set up what will likely be the Region 6 championship game next week.
Highland's best moment - The Rams' defense kept them in the game. Muli Kinikini and Peter Ferrin returned fumbles for touchdowns
and Highland picked off three Romero passes.
Cottonwood's best moment - Romero had an off night, but his receivers (Alo Moli, Isi Sofele and Jason Lundquist) made him look good
with catches and long runs. The Colts' defense also played well as five turnovers would usually result in a loss for most teams.
What was learned from the game - This was the first step in Cottonwood's bid for the region title. Next week will likely decide it.
Highland's scores were the first points the Colts have given up in region. The defense, however, was only responsible for giving up one
TD and it came against Cottonwood reserves.
Next - Cottonwood returns home to play East. Highland plays at Cyprus.

Sept. 26 - Highland 50, Olympus 13
Story of the game - Nick Orchard and Muli Kinikini rushed for two touchdowns apiece as the Rams' ball-control offense rolled to a 44-0
lead and a surprisingly easy win over Olympus in a Region 6 game.
Highland's best moment - The Rams' offense was unstoppable. This was - by far - their best showing this season. Kinikini had 92
yards on the ground and Orchard had 74. Highland was also able to empty its bench in the second half.
Oly's best moment - The offense didn't get rolling until the fourth quarter when Spencer Harris scored on a short run. Lance McGavin
added a 72-yard sprint late in the game. Overall, though, this was a disappointing effort for the Titans.
What was learned from the game - Highland's offense was able to roll against two lower-echelon opponents, and the win sets up next
week's BIG game against Cottonwood. If the Rams can win, they will be in good shape.
Next week - Highland returns home to play Cottonwood. Olympus travels to East.

Sept. 19 - Highland 34, Granger 8
Story of the game - Travis Walzer scored two touchdowns and QB Nick Orchard ran for one and passed for another as the Rams built a
34-0 halftime lead and whipped Granger in their homecoming game.
Highland's best moment - Jordan Crayton had 121 yards in punt returns and helped the Rams get good field position. Sione
Inukihaangana and Muli Kinikini had touchdowns for Highland, too.
Granger's best moment - The Lancers kept Highland from scoring in the second half, and got rid of the goose egg on the scoreboard
when Brentt Phillips hit Jose Corona on a 12-yard TD pass. The Lancers also converted on the two-point conversion.
What was learned from the game - This was a game between the "haves" and "have nots." Highland is simply the better team. Granger
still has not found its offense.
Next week - Highland travels to play Olympus. Granger returns home to take on East.

Sept. 12 - East 14, Highland 7
Story of the game - In a great rivalry game, Taylor Swenson caught a touchdown pass, intercepted another and broke up two passes
near the end zone in the final minute to help the Leopards to a hard-fought 14-7 win over Highland.
Highland's best moment - The Rams jumped to an early 7-0 lead on a short run by Bridger Walzer. Highland's defense put the clamps
on East, holding the Leopards to minus-33 yards in the opening 12 minutes. That's probably the biggest domination ever seen, but for
just one quarter.
East's best moment - After QB Danny Tuai dropped to one knee on the game's final play, Leopard fans stormed the field to celebrate the
win. It was East's second straight victory following a series of defeats to Highland.
What we learned from this game - In three of Highland's four games, the Rams have been a 4-A power for a short portion, and
unimpressive the rest of the time. The Rams have to learn to play a full game. They let this one get away.
Next - Highland returns home to play Granger. East travels to play Murray.

radio. To read the Deseret News story, click here. To view the D-News (limited) photo gallery, click here. To view Muli Kinikini's video

Sept. 5 - Highland 13, Skyline 9
Story of the game - Nick Orchard hit Nate Fakahafua on a 6-yard TD pass with less than a minute to go to lift Highland to a surprising
comeback win over rival Skyline in a non-region game. It was the Eagles' first loss.
Highland's best moment - Trailing 9-0 in the fourth quarter, Orchard led Highland on two long TD drives of 85 and 99 yards. Orchard
was a big reason, with rushes of 19, 20 and 40 yards on the final drive. Later, Orchard intercepted a Skyline pass to seal the win.
Skyline's best moment - QB Kevin Wagstaff completed 8 of 15 passes for 99 yards, including a 38-yard scoring toss to Case Taylor in
the second quarter. RB Algernon Brown had 85 yards on 17 carries.
What was learned from the game - Highland didn't feel it deserved the win. Check out Orchard's comment after the game: "I can't
believe it. We couldn't move the ball until the last five minutes so it feels amazing. We weren't supposed to win that game but we all knew
we could."
Next week - Highland starts Region 6 play with a game at East. Skyline will play host to American Fork in a non-region contest.

Aug. 29 - Highland 33, American Fork 15
Story of the game - QB Nick Orchard had TD runs of 75 and 40 yards as the Rams whipped American Fork in a non-region game. It was
Highland's first win of the season.
Highland's best moment - The Rams' running game was the story. Highland dominated the line of scrimmage, rushing for 449 yards.
American Fork, meanwhile, had just 31.
American Fork's best moment - Jordan Lusk threw a pair of TD passes - 69 yards to Weston Frandsen and 8 yards to Jorey Hansen.
What was learned from the game - Highland felt it should have won its season opener, but made a few mistakes. Those errors were
not as prevalent in the second game. Next week will answer a lot of questions.
Next week - Highland has its season opener, taking on unbeaten Skyline in its last non-region game. American Fork will travel to East.

brief, click here. To read the Provo Herald's brief, click here.
Aug. 23 - Mountain Crest 26, Highland 21
Story of the game - It was the season opener for both teams in a college environment - Logan's Romney Stadium. Mistakes made the
difference as Highland committed six turnovers. Even though Mountain Crest really didn't move the ball well, it didn't have to most of the
time.
Highland's best moment - Trailing 14-0, the Rams sliced the deficit in half, though, when Travis Walzer returned the ensuing kickoff 88
yards for a touchdown. Highland then tied it on a 7-yard touchdown run by Muli Kinikini with 7:48 to go in the second.
Mountain Crest's best moment - Mountain Crest created Highland's turnover fest when Ethan Rasmussen intercepted a pass and
returned it 70 yards for a touchdown to give the Mustangs a 7-0 lead. "We've been watching film," Rasmussen said. "I just read it and
took it to the house." Looks like watching film pays off.
What was learned from the game - Alex Kuresa had three TD passes for Mountain Crest, which has to boost his confidence. Highland,
meanwhile, will likely work on taking care of the ball this week. The Rams won the battle of the linemen. They moved the ball and,
despite the turnovers, almost won the game.
Next week - Highland has another toughie, playing at American Fork. Mountain Crest has another home game against Fremont.
