Feb. 19 - Lone Peak 48, Hillcrest 44

Story of the game: Christian Childs scored a season-high 18
points as Lone Peak held off Hillcrest in a Region 4 contest.

Hillcrest's best moment: The Huskies played great defense, and
held Lone Peak - and its two start players - to their season low. Matt
Pecht scored 16 points for Hillcrest.

Lone Peak's best moment: The Knights took a 17-8 lead in the first
quarter and made it stand up. Nick Emery added 12 points and
Tannon Pederson seven.

Statistical notes: Lone Peak shot just 50 percent (10-20) from the
free-throw line. Hillcrest was 11-18. Pecht and Bridger Dallimore
each had two three-pointers.

What we learned from this game: The Huskies put up a good fight,
but it wasn't enough. Still, there was a noticeable difference in the
team since beating Pleasant Grove on Tuesday.

Feb. 16 - Hillcrest 41, Pleasant Grove 39

Story of the game: Andy Harris and Austin Adams scored 11 points
apiece as Hillcrest edged Pleasant Grove to earn its first Region 4
victory of the season.

Hillcrest's best moment: The Huskies broke through in the win
column, thanks to Harris and Adams, who each had one of their
best games of the season. Bridger Dallimore and Matt Pech each
had eight.

Pleasant Grove's best moment: This was a defensive battle, but
Sefa Tanoai was a big factor inside. He finished with a game-high
16 points. Joe Kruger added eight points and Cory McAllister six.

Statistical notes: This was a defensive battle and each team had its
lowest-scoring game of the season. Hillcrest shot just 7-16 from the
free-throw line. Dallimore was credited with seven steals.

What we learned from this game: The Huskies captured their first
region win and have a lot more confidence. Let's see where it leads
them.

Feb. 12 - Alta 49, Hillcrest 48

Story of the game: Kyle Davis scored 16 points, but it was Jordan
Brown's layup with four seconds to go that lifted Alta past
upset-minded Hillcrest in a Region 4 matchup.

Hillcrest's best moment: The Huskies trailed most of the game, but
had a chance to win it at the end. Matt Pecht led Hillcrest with 19
points and five different players hit big baskets from three-point land.
Tanner Dastrup and Bridger Dallimore had nine each.

Alta's best moment: This game was close throughout, and played
at Hillcrest's preferred pace. Davis was the Hawks' inside threat,
and Jake Baum, Brayden Beckham, Landon Barlow and Mitch
Winter each hit three-pointers.

Statistical notes: This was Hillcrest's best defensive effort in region
play. Baum's eight points was a season high.

What we learned from this game: The Huskies were motivated and
almost came up with the biggest upset of the season ... anywhere.

Feb. 10 - Brighton 75, Hillcrest 61

Story of the game: Corbin Miller scored 25 points as Brighton
outlasted Hillcrest in a Region 4 contest.

Hillcrest's best moment: The Huskies stayed close, thanks mostly
to a 20-point effort by Bridger Dallimore and their inspired crowd.
Danny Thompson added 12 and Austin Adams 11.

Brighton's best moment: The Bengals led throughout the game.
Miller had a big scoring night, but Brighton also substituted freely
and used its depth to wear down the Huskies. Sam Wunderli added
nine points and Jordan Wertz eight.

Statistical notes: Miller has really come on lately and is now
Brighton's leading scorer. Dallimore scored 20+ points for the third
time this season, and helped make up for his bad night against
Brighton earlier.

What we learned from this game: This was a lot tougher game
than when these teams played earlier. Still, the Huskies fell for the
eighth straight time and are in danger of not winning a region game.

Feb. 5 - Jordan 71, Hillcrest 60

Story of the game: Kevin Goldsmith had a career night, scoring 31
points and pulling down 12 rebounds, as Jordan buried Hillcrest in
a Region 4 game.

Hillcrest's best moment: The Huskies got 19 points from Matt Pecht
and 17 by Bridger Dallimore. They trailed by 18 points going into the
final period, but put together a good rally to cut the margin. Dallimore
had four three-pointers.

Jordan's best moment: This was Goldsmith's best night of the year,
and Hillcrest had no answer. Steve Morgan and Joe Mero had 13
points each, and Morgan added nine assists and six steals.

Statistical notes: Jordan statisticians recorded 23 assists on 28
baskets, which indicates good passing. The 71 points given up tied
Hillcrest's season high - set the game before. Goldsmith has been
on a tear and now leads the region at 19.5 ppg.

What we learned from this game: The Huskies' defense is to
blame here. Hillcrest can't win when it gives up 71 points.

three-point baskets. Matt Pecht added 12.

the offense went through Beddes most of the time. Quincy Bair had

Statistical notes: American Fork had just one three-pointer. The
Cavemen shot 10-13 from the free-throw line, compared to 11-20 for

Story of the game: Kyle Davis scored 19 poinst as Alta buried
Hillcrest early and went on to hand the Huskies their third straight
Region 4 loss.

opening half, but got their offense going after that. James Jongejan
led with 10 points. Austin Adams added eight.

Alta's best moment: The Hawks jumped to an 18-4 first-quarter
lead, and were never really threatened. Landon Barlow tied his

line (13-23). Hillcrest was 7-10. Mitch Winter had two treys for Alta.
Hillcrest made just one three-pointer. Hillcrest outscored Alta 29-26
in the second half.

What we learned from this game: The Huskies are moving toward
the bottom of Region 4. They play hard, but there is a talent
discrepancy. An article appeared today that Hillcrest wants to move
down to 4A. The Huskies played just one 4A team on its schedule,
and lost.

Jan. 13 - Brighton 63, Hillcrest 40

Story of the game: Austin Hudson had a big night with 13 points
and 12 rebounds, but the real story was Brighton's 21-2
second-quarter run that allowed the Bengals to beat Hillcrest in a
Region 4 game.

Hillcrest's best moment: The Huskies were in the game in the first
period, and frustrated the home team. Matt Pecht's two free throws
gave Hillcrest a 7-1 lead at one time. James Jongejan was the top
scorer with 11 points.

Brighton's best moment: Trailing 13-12, the Bengals thrilled the
home crowd by dominating the second period and took an 18-point
halftime lead. Corbin Miller added 11 points and Sam Wunderli had
10 points and 10 rebounds.

Statistical notes: Brighton buried seven three-pointers. Danny
Thompson had both of Hillcrest's treys. Both teams shot well from
the free-throw line. This was Hillcrest's worst loss of the season,
and Brighton's best defensive effort.

What we learned from this game: This was really the first game the
Huskies didn't perform. Coach Richins said the team played well for
three quarters, but it was the one they didn't play that made the
difference. No letups are allowed in any games, especially region.

Pecht scored 13 points, while Bridger Dallimore and Danny
Thompson had 10.

Jordan's best moment: The Beetdiggers got their offense rolling in
the second half, scoring 34 of their 53 points. Their inside game
looked good. Nate Monson added 14 points and Joe Mero 10.

Statistical notes: Both teams shot poorly - 50 percent - from the
free-throw line. Hillcrest made seven three-pointers, while Jordan
had just one. Jordan was credited with 12 assists (on 20 baskets),
so it passed the ball well.

What we learned from this game: This was a winnable game for
Hillcrest, but it got away. Region 4 games may be like this. The good
teams win the close ones.

half, but got things going later. Andy Harris was Hillcrest's big scorer
with 20 points.

Copper Hills' best moment: Cordova and Tyler Faalogo beat the
Huskies from the perimeter. Hillcrest did a nice job on C Steven
Larson, but that opened things up for the Grizzlies' guards. Copper
Hills had a 25-16 halftime lead and held on.

Statistical notes: Copper Hills' 60 points was the second-most
Hillcrest has given up so far this season. The Grizzlies had four
three-pointer. Hillcrest had none. Larson had just nine points.

What we learned from this game: The Huskies go into the
Christmas break having lost three of their last four games. The
Region 4 season won't be easy, but Hillcrest should be in every
game.

nice outside-inside game going, and that was the difference. Let's
see if this helps Jongejan's confidence. He could become a real
factor.

held on to beat Hillcrest in a non-region game to hand the Huskies
first loss of the season.

cut the margin to two points entering the fourth quarter. Matt Pecht
and Bridger Dallimore were hot from outside. Pecht finished with 21
points and Dallimore had 20, and each made four three-point
baskets.

Judge's best moment: This was an offensive show and Judge had
some ammunition. Besides Myaer's output, Judge got 17 points
from Will Whitt inside and Daniel Shiramizu added 15. Whitt also
had 10 rebounds.

Statistical notes: Hillcrest made 10-12 free throws. Judge was
15-20. Myaer's 23 was easily a season high. Hillcrest C James

extended it to 26-10 at halftime. Austin Adams added 12 points as

Nov. 24 - Hillcrest 41, Riverton 38

Story of the game - Matt Pecht scored 10 points, but it was Bridger
Dallimore that made the difference, nailing a three-pointer at the
buzzer as Hillcrest beat Riverton in the season opener for both
teams.

Hillcrest's best moment - The game was tied 19-19 at halftime, and
the Huskies broke out in the third period to take a 31-25 lead. Danny
Thompson and James Jongejan each had eight points each for
Hillcrest.

Riverton's best moment - Garrett Gunderstrup had 10 points for
Riverton, which cut the margin in the final period and made the
game close right up until the final buzzer. Bronson Schroeder added
nine points.

Statistical notes - Breiden Gamble and Dallimore each had two
treys for their respective teams. These teams also played a great
game last year.

What we learned from this game - The Huskies won their season
opener, and Dallimore emerged the hero. Last year, Hillcrest 3-3 in
games decided by five points or less.
