Feb. 16 - Wasatch 67, Hunter 60

Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner scored 19 points and Mike
Brown 18 as Wasatch opened the fourth quarter with a 12-0 run and
held off Hunter in a non-region game.

Hunter's highlights: This was a close game throughout, and Hunter
rode Dimitri Saliba's scoring efforts to keep Wasatch nervous late in
the game. Brandon Peterson had his best home game with 20 points
and Saliba 16.

Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps led 46-42 and then opened up a
16-point margin to win their only game against a 5A opponent.
Wasatch hit 14-20 free throws to clinch the victory.

Statistical notes: Hunter dropped to 1-17 this season. This was
Wasatch's only game in the Salt Lake Valley. Saliba had three treys
for Hunter.

What we learned from this game: This was a winnable game, but
Wasatch is among the best in 3A. The offensive effort was Hunter's
best in a while and Peterson and Saliba had good games.

Feb. 12 - West 68, Hunter 53

Story of the game: Jordan Tanner got hot early, scoring a
season-high 27 points as West blew past Hunter and clinched first
place in Region 2.

Hunter's best moment: The Wolverines trailed 62-35 going into the
fourth quarter, but rallied with a convincing effort. Brett Lunceford
topped Hunter with 13 points, while Dimitri Saliba added 11.

West's best moment: Tanner nailed seven three-pointers and
played the key role as the Panthers blew this game open early. Tyrell
Corbin added 11 points. West emptied its bench and nine players
scored.

Statistical notes: Tanner's big effort bumped his ppg average by over
one point - 12.3. West's 68-point effort was its second-highest this
season. Austin Hernandez had two of Hunter's five three-pointers.
Lunceford had reached double figures in the last three games.

What we learned from this game: This was one of those "David vs.
Goliath" games and Goliath never gave David a chance. This was
Hunter's last road game of the season.

Feb. 9 - Cyprus 60, Hunter 49

Story of the game: Landon Stauffer scored 13 points and Jazz White
had 10 as Cyprus blanked Hunter in the opening period and went on
to whip the Wolverines in a Region 2 game.

the final period to try to put a scare into the home team. Brett

lead by the end of the first period and building a 20-point margin at
one time. Cyprus emptied its bench and 10 players scored.

Statistical notes: Stauffer and Colton Squire had a pair of
three-pointers for Cyprus. Squire has scored 29 of his 41 points this
season in the last four games. Hunter's 27-point effort in the fourth
quarter was its highest this season. Cyprus swept the season series.

What we learned from this game: A poor start prevented Hunter from
being competitive in this game. The good news is the Wolverines
finish the season with two home games.

Feb. 5 - Skyline 50, Hunter 35

Story of the game: Brian Orr and Jake Osterloh had big games as
Skyline finally pulled away from Hunter in the fourth quarter and
claimed its third straight Region 2 win.

Hunter's best moment: The Wolverines did a nice job defensively,
and had Skyline worried until late. Brett Lunceford had one of his best
games this season with 13 points.

Skyline's best moment: The Eagles led just 27-22 going into the
final period. Hunter did a nice job bottling up Jaden Jackson, so Orr
(13 points) and Osterloh (12) came through. Skyline outscored
Hunter 23-13 in the final period.

Statistical notes: Skyline shot 8-10 from the free-throw line, while
Hunter was 8-17. Hunter's top two scorers combined for just 10
points. Osterloh's 12 points was his season high.

What we learned from this game: It has been a long time since
Hunter won a game, but the Wolverines have been competitive.

Feb. 2 - Murray 64, Hunter 56

Story of the game: David Collette scored 21 points and got help from
Wyatt Woodard and Riley Grandinetti as Murray finally pulled away
from Hunter in a Region 2 game.

Hunter's best moment: The Wolverines have usually had problems
on offense, but for the second straight game they put up some points.
Dimitri Saliba had 19 points and Brayden Loertscher had 12.

Murray's best moment: The game was tied 27-27 at halftime, but
Murray's balance on offense paid big dividends after that. Grandinetti
had his best game of the season with 13 points, including three treys.

Statistical notes: Hunter had six three-pointers, led by Austin
Hernandez with three. Murray improved to 6-4 on the road with three
straight wins.

What we learned from this game: The Wolverines missed their
chance at an upset win, but they are certainly playing teams tougher.
More players are stepping up, and that could pay off soon.

Jan. 29 - Granger 86, Hunter 76 (OT)

Story of the game: Deng Deng scored 19 points, but he received a
lot of help as Granger had its best shooting night of the season and
bounced Hunter in overtime.

Hunter's best moment: Brandon Peterson led a balanced scoring
offense with a season-high 24 points. The Wolverines rallied from an
eight-point deficit in the fourth period to force the extra session. Austin
Hernandez added 16 points, including four treys.

Granger's best moment: The Lancers led most of the game, but lost
it in the final period. Granger connected on 29-31 free throws, many
in the final minutes, and pulled away in overtime. Austin Scott had 18
points and Cody Thorup 17.

Statistical notes: Hunter made 14-16 free throws. This was Hunter's
first overtime game. Granger's 86-point effort was its most this
season.

What we learned from this game: Hunter played well, but lost
another tough game - this one in overtime. It's apparent the
Wolverines aren't going to the state tournament, so now it's time to
prepare for next year.

moved above .500 for the first time.

What we learned from this game: Hunter lost its sixth straight game
and plays at Granger next, with the winner getting out of the region

buried Hunter with a huge second quarter and claimed the Region 2
victory.

Hunter's best moment - The Wolverines led 9-8 after the first period,

Dimitri Saliba were the top scorers with nine points.

They led 30-15 at halftime and bumped the margin to 43-22 entering
the final quarter. Michael Lombardo came off the bench to score eight
points, including a pair of three-pointers.

Statistical notes - Both teams shot about 50 percent from the
free-throw line. Eleven players scored for Murray. Hunter's 35 points
was its lowest since the season opener and Murray's best defensive
effort.

What we learned from this game - Hunter dropped its season
opener due to a lack of offense. It might have been Murray's defense,
but not likely. Hunter needs to find a scorer, preferably more than one.

What we learned from this game: It's possible the Wolverines got so
excited about the possibility of a win that they neglected to put out the
required effort in the second half, and things snowballed from there.

Dec. 3 - Pine View 44, Hunter 24

Story of the game - Darren Powers scored 11 points and Adam
Bangerter 10 as Pine View blew out Hunter with a big first quarter and
claimed the non-region victory.

Hunter's best moment - This wasn't a great first game. Hunter trailed

embarrassing. Peter Fuimaona had seven for Hunter.

Pine View's best moment - The Panthers' defense made the
difference in this game. Pine View also playing its second game, and
was never really threatened.

Statistical notes - Hunter's 24-point effort was its worst in at least
eight years. The Wolverines only shot three free throws, and made
