Nov. 7 - Bingham 49, Jordan 20
Story of the game - The Miners took advantage of five Jordan
interceptions, jumped to a quick 21-0 lead and whipped the
Beetdiggers at home for the second time this season.
Jordan's best moment - Down by 21 only seven minutes into the
game, QB Alex Hart rallied the Diggers with a pair of TD passes to
Cory Hart. That's as close as Jordan would get.
Bingham's best moment - The Miners offense was explosive. QB Jake
Soffe completed 11 of 17 passes for 290 yards and three scores, and
RB Harvey Langi ran for 178 yards on 16 carries. For the second
straight week, Bingham erased the chance of an upset right away.
What we learned from this game - The Diggers completed a
successful season. While the offense put fans in the seats, it's
defense that wins titles and they still don't have an adequate one.
There aren't many better 5-A teams than Jordan, but the ones that are
rolled to wins.
Next: Jordan is done for the season. Bingham advances to the 5-A
semifinals against Skyline.

Oct. 31 - Jordan 36, Spanish Fork 33
Story of the game - Alex Hart passed for 203 yards, and ran for 115
more as the Beetdiggers took a 23-6 halftime lead and held off Breck
Lewis and the Spanish Fork Dons in a wild 5-A playoff game.
Jordan's best moment - The Diggers' huge offensive line kept the
offense on the field for long periods because Spanish Fork can score
quickly. It wasn't until Tyler Brown recovered the final on-sides kick that
Jordan could relax.
Spanish Fork's best moment - Lewis passed for 477 yards and five
TDs. The Dons, though, didn't get untracked until the second half.
Once they got rolling, they turned this into a great first-round game.
What we learned from this game - It must be fun being a Jordan fan
because the Diggers have played several exciting ones this year. The
previous games seem to have prepared them for these kinds of
finishes.
Next: Jordan aims for revenge at Bingham, where it lost in Week 4.
Spanish Fork is done for the season.

Oct. 24 - Alta 38, Jordan 36
Story of the game - This may have been the best game in the area this
season. Alta kicker Vance Bingham booted a 39-yard field goal as time
ran out as the Hawks won the Region 2 championship with a
comeback win over Jordan.
Jordan's best moment - The Beetdiggers trailed 21-0 at one time, but
QB Alex Hart threw five TD passes, as well as a two- point conversion
pass to Braden Hammond with 38 seconds left for a one-point lead.
Kudos to coach Alex Jacobson for going for the win.
Alta's best moment - What can you say? In a game like this, the last
play is what is remembered most. Check out Bingham's quote:
"From the reaction of the crowd, you can always tell when it goes
through. Jordan's side was quiet and Alta's side was going ecstatic. It
was amazing."
What we learned from this game - I could write a book about this
game. Alta says Brighton or Bingham may be their best rival. After this
game, I don't believe that's true anymore.
Next: Both teams advance to the 5-A playoffs. Jordan will play a home
game against Spanish Fork. Alta will take on Viewmont. (For 5-A
playoff pairings, click here).

Oct. 15 - Jordan 41, Skyline 21
Story of the game - Alex Hart passed for 203 yards and two touch-
downs, and ran for 60 yards and two more scores as the Beet-
diggers had an easier time than expected in beating Skyline in a
Region 2 game.
Jordan's best moment - After Skyline took a 7-0 lead, Jordan scored
on its next four possessions - three TDs and a field
goal - and claimed a big lead. The Diggers said they believe their
offensive line was the determining factor.
Skyline's best moment - The Eagles rushed for 206 yards and QB
KevinWagstaff scored on the team's opening drive for a 7-0 lead.
Tupou Hautau ended up being the team's top runner with 72 yards on
11 carries.
What we learned from this game - The win set up a Region 2
showdown with Alta next week. Beating their rival won't be easy, but the
Diggers are playing their best football right now.
Next: Jordan returns home to play Alta. Skyline travels to Brighton.

Oct. 10 - Jordan 42, Brighton 24
Story of the game - Cory Hunt returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for
a touchdown and Jordan QB Alex Hart ran for 107 yards and a score
as the Beetdiggers got a big lead and held on to beat Brighton in a
Region 2 game.

WR Braden Hammond reaches for the end zone against Northridge.
Jordan's best moment - There isn't a better way to start a game than to return the opening kickoff for a score. This was a close game
last year, but not the case here. Jordan only punted once the entire game.
Brighton's best moment - This game was over early, but Brighton knows it has a decent future. Sophomore QB Taylor Loomis came in
late and led the Bengals to a pair of touchdowns. Brighton has a good future.
What we learned from this game - Brighton has Derek Newell, and now it has Taylor Loomis. That's a good situation to have at QB.
Coach Ryan Bullett has said repeatedly that this team has some young talent, and tonight we saw a sign of it.
Next: Jordan travels to play Skyline. Brighton plays at Hillcrest.

Sept. 26 - Jordan 42, Taylorsville 0
Story of the game - QB Alex Hart threw five touchdown passes, and Jordan's defense recorded its first shutout of the season in a 42-0
Region 2 victory over Taylorsville.
Jordan's best moment - The Beetdiggers were the most dominant they've been all season. Hart threw first-half TD passes for Braden
Hammond, Ty Spillman and two to Cory Hunt as they raced to a 28-0 halftime lead.
Taylorsville's best moment - There were few, if any. The Warriors haven't scored more than 19 points in any game all season, so it was
pretty much over by halftime. This was another lopsided loss.
What we learned from this game - Jordan is setting itself up for a possible Region 2 matchup against Alta in three weeks. The Diggers
have won three straight and are finally living up to their preseason reputation.
Next - Jordan travels to play Brighton. Taylorsville returns home to take on Skyline.

Sept. 26 - Jordan 49, Hillcrest 14
Story of the game - Ty Spillman and Cory Hunt scored two touchdowns each as Jordan jumped to a huge lead and captured a lopsided
win over Hillcrest in each team's Region 2 opener.
Jordan's best moment - The Beetdiggers are known for their offense, and it all came together against Hillcrest. The win was their
second straight, and the offense had its best output of the season. QB Alex Hart had three more TD passes.
Hillcrest's best moment - Anthony Bivens had Kolby Koplin had touchdowns for Hillcrest when the game was out of reach. This might
be the first game this season where the Huskies didn't show signs of improvement.
What we learned from this game - If you look at the schedule, the Diggers' three losses have been to 5-A playoff teams. The Diggers
won this game handily, and the schedule is favorable for the next couple of weeks, which might allow the team to build some confidence
going into the final weeks of the season.
Next - Jordan has a home game against Taylorsville. Hillcrest takes on Skyline.

Sept. 19 - Jordan 29, Riverton 22
Story of the game - Jordan QB Alex Hart ran 11 yards for a touchdown, and the Beetdiggers added a two-point conversion, in the fourth
quarter to lift the team to an exciting non-region win over Riverton in its homecoming contest.
Jordan's best moment - The Diggers led 21-6 at halftime, but Riverton rallied in the third quarter. Trailing 22-21, Hart moved the team
downfield for a score. Riverton then rallied, but Corey Hunt intercepted a pass on defense to secure the win.
Riverton's best moment - The third quarter belonged to the Silverwolves, which is often a sign of coaching. The offense wore Jordan
down on several lengthy, punishing drives led by Zach Spencer and Dillon Draper. Down 21-19 and facing a stiff wind in his face, kicker
Michael Allem calmly nailed a 40-yard field goal to give Riverton the lead as the fourth quarter began.
What we learned from this game - This was a good win for Jordan going into the Region 2 season. Hart passed for 314 yards and
three scores. With the exception of the third quarter, Jordan's defense played the best it had all year.
Next - Jordan travels to Hillcrest to open region play. Riverton has a home game against Copper Hills.

Sept. 12 - Bingham 27, Jordan 7
Story of the game - The Miners celebrated their school's 100th birthday and finally broke in their revamped stadium with a tough
non-region win over Jordan that evened their record to 2-2. Bingham's defense was tough, holding the Beetdiggers to a season-low 7
points. L.T. Filiaga led the way with two sacks.
Jordan's best moment - Tyler Brown's 13-yard run was the Diggers only score. Jordan did manage to move the ball at times, but INTs
hurt. Corey Hunt returned a punt for a score, but it was nullified by a penalty. Coach Alex Jacobson said he's ready for region. With the
schedule Jordan has played, it ought to be.
Bingham's best moment - For many people, it was probably the opening kickoff in the new stadium. The Miners had been waiting for
that moment for a long time. On the field, Cole Yack and Bridger Peck had key INTs and the offense was able to control the ball and keep
Jordan's offense off the field.
What we learned from this game - Seven points won't win most games. Jordan is known for its offense, so how do you explain seven
poitns? Last year, this was a 36-35 game. Bingham is 2-2, and seemingly back on track. The stadium is the top of the line, and the envy
of every other school.
Next - Jordan returns home to play Riverton, with hopes of earning its first win in its revamped stadium. Bingham travels to play Lone
Peak.

Sept. 5 - Layton 35, Jordan 14
Story of the game: RB Karl Williams rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns and QB Camren Applegate threw for two fourth-quarter
touchdowns and ran for another to lead Layton to a 35-14 win over Jordan in a non-region game.
Jordan's best moment: QB Alex Hart ran for one TD and passed for another as the Beetdiggers went into halftime tied 14-14. That
would be the highlight, though. In the second half, Jordan had a chance to score again but an errant snap ended a drive at the 2-yard
line.
Layton's best moment: In the fourth quarter, Layton's defense pressed Jordan quarterback Alex Hart, who was only able to complete
1-of-7 tosses. Meanwhile, Applegate found Cory Bartley and Kimble Jensen for scores on consecutive drives, putting the game out of
reach even for the explosive Jordan offense.
What we learned from the game? Check out Layton coach Jim Batchelor's quote: "That happened to us last week; we got worn down in
the fourth quarter. We focused all week long on starting fast, finishing strong and making sure we weren't going to fade again."
Next: Jordan helps inaugurate Bingham's new stadium in a non-region game. Layton starts Region 1 play with a game at Fremont.

Aug. 30 - Jordan 27, Washington (Massillon, Ohio) 24
Story of the game: Garrett Blaisdell kicked a 36-yard field goal as time expired to lift Jordan to an exciting win over the home team.
Jordan QB Alex Hart was the team MVP, passing for 294 yards and rushing for 74 more. Like the Beetdiggers' opener, the game was full
of offense.
Jordan's best moment: It ended up being a battle between the two team's kickers, and Blaisdell came through. He booted a 32-yard
field goal with 5:48 left to tie the game 24-24. After Massillon missed its FG attempt with about a minute left, Jordan moved the ball
downfield and gave Blaisdell the chance to win it. The kicker was then carried off the field by his teammates.
Massillon's best moment: It wasn't the end of the game because the team - and its fans there - thought the clock should have ran out
and the winning kick never attempted. That would have led to overtime. But the coaching staffs for both teams handled it well. It was a
class act on Massillon's part.
What we learned from the game? A big win for the Diggers, although it still shows that their defense needs work. Wins like this build
character, and long road trips can build unity. The schedule doesn't get easier, but the Diggers can use this experience to show what
they are made of.
Next: Jordan returns to its "new" stadium to play 5-A power Layton. Massillon (1-1) has a home game against Normandy (Ohio).
Links: The Salt Lake Tribune arranged to have a reporter cover the game, and there at least two papers from Ohio. In addition, the
Massillon website has in-depth statistical details. To read the Tribune's article, click here. To read the Massillon Independent's story,

Aug. 22 - Northridge 41, Jordan 37
Story of the game - In a duel between two offensive teams with impressive quarterbacks, Northridge scored last two take the
non-region win. Northridge QB Junior Cole threw for 214 yards and three TDs, and rushed for 86 yards and two TDs. His counterpart -
Jordan's Alex Hart - rushed for 191 yards and passed for 136. A great offensive show.
Jordan's best moment - Late in the game, Jordan trailed 34-30 and steamrolled down the field, with Hart running the last seven yards
for a TD. The team, and the home crowd were thrilled. But Hart spiked the ball, got nailed with a 15-yard penalty, and that gave
Northridge good field position to rally. Still, it was an exciting time.
Northridge's best moment - Chris Washington caught Cole's TD pass with seven seconds left, which started the Knights' celebration.
Northridge waited a whole year for this minute. In last year's game, Northridge lost to Jordan 27-26 in a game that was stopped with 6
minutes due to lightning.
What was learned from the game? These are two good teams, but not great. Great teams win with defense. These two clubs can
score on anyone, and likely will. But until they show they're able to stop someone, they won't make the top five.
Next - Jordan travels to Canton, Ohio, to take on Massillon's Washington High School on Saturday. Northridge takes on Crespi, Calif.,
Saturday at a neutral site - SUU's field in Cedar City.
