Oct. 30 - Delta 41, Judge Memorial 7

Story of the game - RB Derek Peterson scored three
touchdowns and Kason Church returned an interception for a
score as Delta broke a 7-7 halftime tie with a big second half and
advanced in the 3A playoffs.

Judge's best moment - The Bulldogs actually scored first. Will
Huntsman fumbled near the goal line and teammate Peter Lyons
fell on it in the end zone to give Judge a 7-0 lead. But Judge
wouldn't score again.

Delta's best moment - QB Joey Dutson had a big day throwing
the football. The Rabbits also took advantage of Judge turnovers
in the second half and turned the game into a rout.

What we learned from this game - It has been a long season for
Judge, and the offense just wasn't there this time. Judge finished
with a 3-7 record.

Next - Judge is done for the year. Delta advanced to play Park City
in a 3A quarterfinal.

Oct. 23 - Judge Memorial 28, Bear River 21

Story of the game - Paul Clark scored two touchdowns - one on
a broken play - and another in the game's final minutes, as Judge
beat Bear River and claimed the third seed from Region 11.

Judge's best moment - After Bear River tied the game with 1:34
left, QB Daniel Shiramizu led the last-minute drive that ended with
Clark's score.

Bear River's best moment - Dax Sederholm scored two
touchdowns for the Bears, including a 13-yard pass from James
Taylor that allowed Bear River to tie the game in the fourth quarter.

What we learned from this game - It was a good win for Judge,
and its second win on its temporary home field at Granite High.
The Bulldogs now have some momentum going into the
post-season.

Next - Judge travels to play Delta in the 3A playoffs. Bear River
will go to Manti.

Oct. 16 - Morgan 35, Judge Memorial 28

Story of the game - Jordan Wamsley and Lawson Toomer
combined for almost 300 yards rushing as Morgan built a good
lead and then held off Judge Memorial in a Region 11 game.

Judge's best moment - QB Daniel Shiramizu led a valiant
comeback. Judge trailed 21-0 at one point. Judge had a chance
late in the game, but a snap miscue on a fourth-down play ended
the drive.

Morgan's best moment - Wamsley had 193 yards on 22 carries
for Morgan. The Trojans had 399 total rushing yards. The win kept
Morgan undefeated in region, and the Trojans will play at Juan
Diego next week for the region title.

What we learned from this game - Judge played valiantly, but it
wasn't enough. Shiramizu had 90 yards rushing for Judge,
including a 72-yard scamper that set up a score. Judge takes on
Bear River to decide third place.

Next - Judge plays host to Bear River. Morgan travels to Juan
Diego.

Oct. 9 - Judge Memorial 28, Grantsville 14

Story of the game - Paul Clark was a second-half wrecking crew,
returning a punt 74 yards for a touchdown and then added a
58-yard run for another score as Judge broke open a close game
and downed Grantsville in a Region 11 contest.

Judge's best moment - Clark has been going this all season,
and his second-half heroism delighted the home crowd, which
saw the team win on Granite's field for the first time. The win
clinched a 3A playoff berth.

Grantsville's best moment - The Cowboys never led, but stayed
with Judge in the first half, which ended tied 14-14. Jared Knight
caught a 43-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and then
Boman added a short run for the other score.

What we learned from this game - This was a good effort by
Judge, and it's about time the Bulldogs won a home game. The
defense recorded a shutout in the second half.

Next - Judge travels to Morgan. Grantsville plays at Bear River.

Oct. 2 - Logan 48, Judge Memorial 31

Story of the game - Logan QB Tyler Stevens threw for 499 yards
and six touchdowns, offsetting a brilliant night by Judge's Daniel
Shiramizu, as the Grizzlies held on to claim the non-region win.

Judge's best moment - Shiramizu ran for 257 yards and scored
twice for Judge. Teammate Paul Clark also caused some
exciting moments, returning a kickoff 92 yards for a score and
then catching a 71-yard TD pass from Shiramizu.

Logan's best moment - Stevens set a Utah high school state
record for completions (43) and attempts (66). Three receivers -
Bronson Twitchell, Billy Phillips and Tanner Gittins - had over 100
yards receiving. Logan led the entire game.

What we learned from this game - Logan has been able to beat
Judge for the last few years, and has done it with offense. At least
this was a non-region game.

Next - Judge plays host to Grantsville. Logan travels to Mountain
Crest.

Sept. 25 - Judge Memorial 34, Ben Lomond 3

Story of the game - QB Daniel Shiramizu ran for two touchdowns
and passed for another as Judge ended a four-game losing
streak with a Region 11 win over Ben Lomond.

Judge Memorial's best moment - The defense won the game.
While the offense did score 34 points, Judge's defense had its
best performance of the season, holding Ben Lomond to a single
field goal.

Ben Lomond's best moment - Zach Boden's 22-yard field goal in
the second quarter prevented the shutout. The defense played
pretty well. This game wasn't decided until Judge's 15-point
outburst in the fourth quarter.

What we learned from this game - Judge should breathe easier
after its first win in more than a month. It's also a region win.

Next - Judge plays at Logan Oct. 2. Ben Lomond is off until Oct. 9,
when it plays Morgan.

Sept. 18 - Juan Diego 34, Judge Memorial 12

Story of the game - Cody Stevenson scored twice and Lars
Gunderson returned a punt 51 yards for a touchdown, but it was
Juan Diego's defense that was the difference in its win over
Judge Memorial.

Judge Memorial's best moment - Judge QB Daniel Shiramizu
scored on 10-yard run in the fourth quarter, and then Paul Clark
added a 9-yard scamper. It was too little, too late.

Juan Diego's best moment - The Soaring Eagle held Judge to
144 total yards, with only 43 coming in the first three quarters.
Juan Diego sacked the Judge QB seven times. Juan Diego led
31-0 before the Bulldogs scored.

What we learned from this game - The fact that Judge lost to
Juan Diego wasn't surprising. But look at the schedule. Judge is
playing it's home games at Granite High School now, and has
lost all four games at home.

Next - Judge travels to play Ben Lomond. Juan Diego takes on
Grantsville at home.

Sept. 11 - Wasatch 34, Judge Memorial 17

Story of the game - Payton Davis passed for 276 yards and he
and Mike Davis scored two touchdowns each as Wasatch
rambled past Judge in a non-region game.

Judge Memorial's best moment - Judge's defense played well in
the first half, and trailed just 6-3 at halftime. Wasatch blew the
game open in the second half, but Paul Clark caught a 44-yard
TD pass from Daniel Shiragizu and returned a kickoff 95 yards for
a score.

Wasatch's best moment - The Wasp offense had trouble in the
first half, but got a big lift when Mike Davis intercepted a pass and
returned it 52 yards for a touchdown to give Wasatch the halftime
lead.

What we learned from this game - This game used to be an
in-region rivalry. Even though the teams aren't in the same region
anymore, that rivalry feeling still exists. It's Judge's third straight
loss.

Next - Judge ends its long homestand by starting region play
against
Juan Diego. Wasatch takes on North Sanpete at home.

Sept. 4 - Highland (Idaho) 49, Judge Memorial 10

Story of the game - Tanner Nielson passed for 286 yards and
four touchdowns as Highland's offense proved to be unstoppable
in the Rams non-region win over Judge Memorial.

Judge Memorial's best moment - The Bulldogs were never in
the game. Judge managed a 33-yard field goal by Pat Gibbs and
a 15-yard pass from James Delacenserie to Paul Clark, who
caught his third TD pass of the season.

Highland's best moment - The Rams dominated from the start,
and actually had four touchdowns negated due to penalty.
Sophomore Kai Campbell was Highland's leading rusher with 72
yards.

What we learned from this game - For the second straight week,
Judge's defense couldn't stop anybody. While both teams were
good, changes need to be made because the region season
starts Sept. 18.

Next - Judge has a home game against Wasatch. Highland will
take on
Highland, of Salt Lake City, at home.

Aug. 28 - Ogden 47, Judge Memorial 21

Story of the game - Ogden QB Nik Eyre passed for 216 yards
and ran for 142 more as the Tigers offense surprised Judge and
buried the Bulldogs in their home opener at Granite High
School's field.

Judge Memorial's best moment - Judge didn't have much of a
passing game, but QB Daniel Shiramizu's two completions did
go to Paul Clark for touchdowns. Shiramizu also scored Judge's
other touchdown on a 1-yard run.

Ogden's best moment - The Tigers jumped to a 14-0 lead and
was constantly able to move the ball because they could run and
pass. Ogden had 231 yards rushing and 224 through the air. The
Tigers were unstoppable.

What we learned from this game - Judge's defense was burned,
but by a good offense. Judge never did find a way to stop the
Tigers. There will likely be a lot of film study in the next week.

Next - Judge plays host to Highland, a traditional power from
Pocatello, Idaho. Ogden returns home to take on
Stansbury.

Aug. 21 - Judge Memorial 20, Tooele 6

Story of the game - Daniel Shiramizu ran for 93 yards, including
a touchdown, and passed for another and the Judge defense put
the clamps on Tooele in its non-region victory.

Judge Memorial's best moment - This was a defensive-minded
game, and Judge's defense was the victor. The Bulldogs kept
Tooele's offense out of the end zone until late in the game, when
the game had already been decided.

Tooele's best moment - Since the Buffaloes' offense struggled,
James DeSantiago took it upon himself and returned a kickoff 95
yards for a score. Milo Leakahe led the Buffs with 105 yards
rushing.

What we learned from this game - This was a good win for
Judge in its season opener, especially for the defense. It was
more of a "bend, but don't break" style, but it worked.

Next - Judge plays its first home game - at Granite High School -
against Ogden.
Tooele travels to West.
