Feb. 19 - West Jordan 53, Kearns 48
Story of the game: Jaxon Knighton led a balanced-scoring effort with
14 points as West Jordan grabbed an early lead and held off Kearns
to avenge an earlier loss to the Cougars.
Kearns' highlights: The Cougars stormed back in the final period,
holding West Jordan to a season-low four points, to make the score
look closer. Andrew Lokeni led the way with 18 points.
West Jordan's highlights: Knight and Jesse Herrin (three treys)
combined to make a good inside-outside combination and helped
the Jags to a 12-point halftime lead. West Jordan led by 15 points
before Kearns rallied.
Statistical notes: Kearns' Marino Moore was credited with six
assists. Knighton's 14 points was his season high and the eighth
time he reached double figures. The Jags only shot three free
throws, but made all of them.
What we learned from this game: The Cougars upset West Jordan
earlier this season, but fell too far behind early here.

Feb. 12 - Kearns 57, Taylorsville 53
Story of the game: Andrew Lokeni scored 15 points as Kearns
rallied past Taylorsville to win the Region 3 game and keep its 5A
postseason hopes alive.
Kearns' best moment: The game was tied 27-27 at halftime and
then took a small lead. Dalton Noble added 11 points and Marino
Moore 10. The Cougars shot poorly from the free-throw line, but it
didn't hurt them.
Taylorsville's best moment: The Warriors had balanced scoring, but
dropped their fourth straight game and are tied with Kearns at the
bottom of the standings. Wesley Wright topped Taylorsville with 11
points.
Statistical notes: Kearns shot 16-30 from the free-throw line. Sammy
Sweat had eight points for Kearns, including a pair of three-pointers.
What we learned from this game: Kearns earned its second region
win and is now just one game out of earning a playoff berth.

Feb. 9 - Bingham 72, Kearns 36
Story of the game: Ty Hannay scored 17 points as Bingham
dominated play and routed Kearns in a Region 3 game.
Kearns' best moment: The Cougars were down 57-20 and then put
up a good fight to make the score more respectable. Andrew Lokeni
led Kearns with 17 points.
Bingham's best moment: This was decided early. Bingham led 14-9
after one quarter, but blew the game open in the second period to
lead 37-14 at intermission. Ben Clifford and Nate Girsberger had 12
points each and Spencer Brown tied his season high with 10.
Statistical notes: The 36-point win tied Bingham's biggest margin
this season. It also was Kearns' biggest loss. Kearns' top scorer,
Dalton Noble, had just two points.
What we learned from this game: This was a disappointing effort by
Kearns, but were playing Bingham at the wrong time. The Cougars
are still in the hunt for a postseason berth.

Feb. 5 - Riverton 48, Kearns 40
Story of the game: Garrett Gundestrup scored 10 points and Matt
Hess had nine as Riverton bounced Kearns for the second time this
season in a Region 3 game.

Riverton's type of game, and the way to win is to outscore them.
Dalton Noble and Marino Moore were the top scorers with nine each.
Riverton's best moment: The Silverwolves led most of the game, but
put it away in the final period. Riverton had balanced scoring as Alex
Neilson and Bronson Schroeder added seven points each.
Statistical notes: This was Riverton's first home win in two months.
The Silverwolves swept the season series. Gundestrup had a pair of
three-pointers.
What we learned from this game: The loss dropped Kearns back
into last place again, but it was a good defensive effort. Just not
enough offense.

Jan. 29 - Kearns 51, West Jordan 44
Story of the game: Dalton Noble scored 17 points and Jarin Bell had
a season-high 11 as Kearns pulled away from West Jordan at the
end to earn its first Region 3 victory.

being blown out by West Jordan both times last year. Kearns played
good defense and recorded 10 steals. Andrew Lokeni had 10 points.
West Jordan's best moment: Jordan Loveridge led the way with 15
points and nine rebounds, but this wasn't the Jaguars' best efforts.
They had a chance win, but were outplayed during the last four
minutes.
Statistical notes: This was West Jordan's first road loss after three
straight wins. Bell has really come on recently for Kearns. West
Jordan did a nice job rebounding.
What we learned from this game: This is more like it! A great win for
Kearns, but more are needed if the Cougars have any chance to
make the 5A state tournament.

Jan. 26 - Copper Hills 75, Kearns 63
Story of the game: Steven Larson had another big game, torching
the nets for 28 points, as Copper Hills went on to the road and beat
Kearns in a Region 3 game.
Kearns' best moment: Dalton Noble pretty much matched Larson,
with his second straight big game. Noble finished with 28 points and
Andrew Lokeni added 11. The Cougar seem to have found their
offense.
Copper Hills' best moment: The Grizzlies led throughout thanks to
their usual three-man scoring crew - Larson, Steven Cordova and
Tyler Faalago. They led by 10 points at halftime and then held on.
Statistical notes: These last three games have been Kearns' worst
defensive efforts. The Cougars made just 7-18 free throws, while
Copper Hills was 11-18. Cordova had three treys for Copper Hills.
What we learned from this game: The loss dropped Kearns into the
Region 3 cellar, and still in search of its first region victory.

of the season anywhere. The Cougars lost, but played a great game
and should look at the positives from this contest.

to rally with the three-point shot. Dalton Noble finished with 17 points,
including three treys.
Bingham's best moment: The Miners led 34-23 at halftime, and then
outscored Kearns 24-10 in the third period to take a 25-point lead.
Coach Dubach emptied the bench after that and 10 players reached

Statistical notes: Bingham made 16-19 free throws, while Kearns
was just 1-4, meaning the Cougars didn't try to force the ball inside.
Bingham hasn't lost to Kearns since before the year 2000.
What we learned from this game: The Region 3 schedule looks like
it will be tough on Kearns. But this team won't give up. That's for sure.
