Home games in CAPS
Jan. 23 - Pleasant Grove 51, Lehi 29
Story of the game: Center Jennifer Hamson had 12 points, 13
rebounds and five blocked shots as Pleasant Grove handed Lehi
its fourth straight loss in Region 4.
Lehi's best moment: The Pioneers trailed the entire game, as they
were unable to get open shots from the perimeter. They outscored
PG 10-9 in the final period. Briar Sands led Lehi with seven points.
Pleasant Grove's best moment: The Vikings defense won the
game. PG led 30-14 at halftime and prevented any rallies. They
also had a season-low nine turnovers.
Statistical notes: Both teams shot badly from the three-point line.
Jackie Cattani had just two points; Gabby Granthem had four. In
three of their last four games, the Pioneers are averaging about 30
points..
What we learned from this game: Opponents apparently are
learning how to take Cattani and perhaps Granthem out of the
game. So far, nobody else has stepped up.
Next: Lehi plays at Timpanogos Jan. 28. Pleasant Grove has
Spanish Fork at home the same night.

game. To read the Herald's story, click here. To read the Deseret

Jan. 21 - Lone Peak 48, Lehi 28
Story of the game: Whitney Johnson, Kristen Owens and Megan
Smith scored 10 points apiece, but it was Lone Peak's defense
that keyed its Region 4 victory over Lehi.
Lehi's best moment: The Pioneers had trouble scoring, but were
still close until the third quarter. Gabby Granthem was Lehi's top
scorer with 10 points, including a pair of three-pointers.
Lone Peak's best moment: Leading 18-14 at halftime, the Knights
put the game away by outscoring Lehi 13-4 in the third period. They
hit enough free throws near the end to expand the lead.
Statistical notes: Lehi's 28 points was a season low. Leading
scorer Jackie Cattani had just three points. Lehi was 7-10 from the
free-throw line; Lone Peak was 14-21.
What we learned from this game: Lehi dropped to 1-3 in region
play and now has three straight road games. Region opponents
are making things tough for the Pioneers.
Next: Lehi travels to Pleasant Grove Jan. 23. Lone Peak plays host
to Timpanogos the same night.

Lake Tribune.
Jan. 16 - Spanish Fork 54, Lehi 48
Story of the game: Erin Redd and Jessie Anderson scored 12
points apiece as Spanish Fork rallied to edge Lehi and capture its
first Region 4 win.
Lehi's best moment: Jackie Cattani led Lehi with 19 points, and
she was the main contributor as the Pioneers rallied from a 17-9
first-quarter deficit to eventually take the lead. They couldn't hold it,
though.
Spanish Fork's best moment: The Dons dominated the first and
fourth quarters. They trailed 39-37 entering the final period, but
outscored Lehi 17-9 (again) to claim the win.
Statistical notes: Lehi was 12-15 from the free-throw line; Spanish
Fork was 17-30. Cattani had Lehi's only three-point baskets (2).
Elle Brainard had nine points. This was Lehi's first road game in
over a month.
What we learned from this game: This was a winnable game, and
now Lehi is 1-2 in region and headed downward.
Next: Lehi returns home to play Lone Peak Jan. 21. Spanish Fork
goes to Timpanogos the same night.

Jan. 14 - American Fork 63, Lehi 31
Story of the game: Amy Krommenhoek scored 20 points and
Haley Holmstead had 19 as American Fork came to Lehi and
dominated the Pioneers in a Region 4 game.
Lehi's best moment: The Pioneers played with the Cavemen in the
second and third quarters, but the 23-8 deficit early clearly showed
who was the dominant team. Briar Sands and Kjersti Secretan led
with seven points each.
American Fork's best moment: AF led 40-21 at halftime, but took
advantage of Lehi's fourth-quarter scoring problems to really turn
this game into a rout.
Statistical notes: Neither team shot particularly well from the
free-throw line (about 50 percent). Jackie Cattani had six points
and Gabby Granthem five for Lehi.
What we learned from this game: AF is a power, and this was
Lehi's worst loss since the season opener. Teams in this region
are still trying to find their eventual position. It's clear Lehi won't be
on top.
Next: Lehi travels to Spanish Fork Jan. 16. American Fork plays at
Timpanogos the same night.

Jan. 9 - Lehi 66, Timpanogos 50
Story of the game: Jackie Cattani scored 25 points and Gabby
Granthem had 20 as Lehi rallied from an 11-point first-quarter
deficit to beat Timpanogos in their Region 4 opener.
Lehi's best moment: The Pioneers started slowly, but rallied to
within one point by the end of the first quarter, and then took over
the game. Lehi outscored Timpanogos by 20 points in the middle
two quarters. Center Whitney Hunter played a big role.
Timpanogos' best moment: The Timberwolves played well for the
first few minutes of the game, and then were dominated until late.
Lissy Bingham had 23 points. Jessica Fisher added 11.
Statistical notes: Cattani had four of Lehi's five three-point
baskets. The teams were about even from the free-throw line.
Lehi's 66-point outburst was a season high.
What we learned from this game: The Pioneers are 1-0 in region,
but they played one of the weaker teams. We'll see where it leads.
Next: Lehi takes on 5A power American Fork at home Jan. 14.
Timpanogos goes to Pleasant Grove the same night.

Jan. 5 - Lehi 44, Hunter 39
Story of the game: Gabby Granthem scored 19 points as Lehi held
off Hunter in a non-region game, ending its two-game losing streak.
Lehi's best moment: The Pioneers led the entire game, jumping to
a 15-6 first-quarter lead. After Hunter cut the margin to two points,
Lehi had to hit important free throws to hang on to the win.
Hunter's best moment: The Wolverines made a nice rally in the
second and third quarter and make this a close game. Latiesha
Webster had 18 points for Hunter.
Statistical notes: Hunter was just 3-14 from the free-throw line;
Lehi was 11-18. Granthem had three treys for Lehi. Webster had a
pair for Hunter.
What we learned from this game: The defensive effort by Lehi was
one of its best this season. Lehi finishes the non-region part of its
schedule with a 6-5 record.
Next: Lehi opens Region 4 play at home against Timpanogos Jan.
9. Hunter goes to Spanish Fork tonight (Jan. 6).

Dec. 23 - Grantsville 72, Lehi 53
Story of the game: Sammie Jensen scored 29 points and had 10
rebounds as Grantsville grabbed an early lead and whipped Lehi
in a non-region game.
Lehi's best moment: The Pioneers didn't play badly, especially
after the first quarter. Jackie Cattani and Gabby Granthem had 14
points apiece for Lehi.
Grantsville's best moment: This was a convincing win for
Grantsville. The Cowboys came into Lehi's gym and jumped to a
23-8 advantage by the end of the first quarter. The game was pretty
even after that.
Statistical notes: Both teams shot well from the free-throw line.
Grantsville was 14-18 and Lehi 13-14. That's rare. Wells had 10 of
her 19 points in the fourth quarter. Grantsville had a huge 31-9
rebound advantage.
What we learned from this game: This was a big one. A 3A team
defeated a decent 5A team on the 5A team's home court. This was
Grantsville's fifth straight win. It was Lehi's second straight loss.
Next: Lehi is off until it plays Hunter in a home game Jan. 5.
Grantsville goes to Salem Hills Dec. 30.

Dec. 19 - Judge Memorial 54, Lehi 39
Story of the game: Erica Martinez and Tina Fakahafua scored 15
points apiece and Judge was on fire from the outside, nailing a
season-high seven three-pointers, in Judge's non-region win at
Lehi.
Lehi's best moment: The offense is still inconsistent for the
Pioneers. Much of this game was played at the perimeter, and
Lehi's shots were not falling. Gabby Granthem led with eight points.
Judge Memorial's best moment: This game was played at a fast
pace and Judge had the lead from the start. It was 17-9 at the end
of the first quarter and 33-19 at halftime. Martinez had three treys,
Alison Brann had two and Fakahafua and Mikelle Mancini had one
each.
Statistical notes: Jackie Cattani, Katie Rogers and Briar Sands
had seven points apiece for Lehi. Brann, Mancini and Sekola
Falemaka had eight each for Judge. The game was played pretty
evenly in the second half. Only 13 free throws were attempted
(combined).
What we learned from this game: A third straight win could have
meant so much to this game, but I guess we can't complain about
losing to Judge, a 3A power.
Next: Lehi has a home game against Grantsville Dec. 23. Judge
plays host to Ogden tonight (Dec. 20).
Links: There was no local media coverage of this game. To read
the Deseret News brief, click here. There was no report in the Salt
Lake Tribune or Provo Herald.
Dec. 17 - Lehi 48, Copper Hills 41
Story of the game: Jackie Cattani scored 15 points as Lehi rallied
to end Copper Hills' upset hopes in a non-region game.
Lehi's best moment: Cattani had two three-point baskets and that
keyed a 21-point fourth quarter for the Pioneers. Briar Sands had
10 points for Lehi, and Gabby Granthem eight.
Copper Hills' best moment: This was the Grizzlies best chance for
their first win. The game was close all the way. Copper Hills led
29-27 entering the final quarter. Marissa Lazenby had nine points
to lead the Grizzlies.
Statistical notes: Lehi had an edge at the free-throw line, hitting
14-26 shots, compared to 5-11 for Copper Hills. Cattani was 3-4
and Sands 3-5 from the line in the final quarter. Kim Bohne and
Melite Ongolaka had eight points for the Grizzlies.
What we learned from this game: For the first time this season,
Lehi has won two straight games. The Pioneers also engineered
another rally - that's twice, too.
Next: Copper Hills plays at Spanish Fork on Dec. 19. Lehi has a
home game against Judge Memorial the same night.

Dec. 12 - Lehi 42, East 29
No information available.
Dec. 11 - Highland 53, Lehi 38
Story of the game: Chanel Roe scored 18 points and Beauty
Tuakalau had 16 as Highland pulled away from Lehi in the fourth
quarter and took the non-region win.
Lehi's best moment: Highland was obviously trying to stop Jackie
Cattani and Gabby Granthem and did - to a point. Briar Sands
picked up the slack and led Lehi with 12 points.
Highland's best moment: This game was close until the final
period. The Rams led just 34-29. Late in the game, however, Lehi
was forced to foul and Highland hit its shots. The Rams finished
18-25 from the free-throw line.
Statistical notes: Cattani had two three-point baskets for Lehi.
Mixsa Kafi scored eight points for Highland. The Rams outscored
Lehi 19-9 in the final quarter. The 38 points was a season low
given up by the Rams.
What we learned from this game: Highland earned its second
straight road win, while Lehi fell to 3-3. Making free throws will help
Highland throughout the season.
Next: Lehi goes to East tonight (Dec. 12). Highland returns home
to play Brighton Dec. 16.

the Deseret News brief, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune

Dec. 9 - Lehi 57, Hillcrest 56
Story of the game: Gabby Granthem hit a three-point basket as the
buzzer sounded to give Lehi a comeback win over Hillcrest in a
non-region game.
Lehi's best moment: Jackie Cattani led the comeback with 21
points as the Pioneers outscored Hillcrest 23-16 in the final
quarter. This might be Lehi's biggest win so far this season.
Hillcrest's best moment: The Huskies trailed 26-23 at halftime, but
Lexi Amundsen (15 points) and Kelsi Heard (13) led a big rally in
the third quarter to give Hillcrest a 40-34 advantage. That was
enough until Granthem's final shot.
Statistical notes: Cattani was deadly from outside, nailing four
three-pointers. Lehi's rally against Provo last week fell short.
Granthem had 11 points and Briar Sands eight for Lehi. Shober
had nine points for Hillcrest.
What we learned from this game: The game isn't over until it's
over. Lehi went for the win instead of a tie in the final seconds.
Hillcrest was likely blanketing Cattani at the time.
Next: Lehi has Highland at home Dec. 11. Hillcrest travels to
neighborhood rival Cottonwood Dec. 12.
Links: There was no local media coverage of this game. To read
the Deseret News brief, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune
box score, click here.
Dec. 5 - Provo 38, Lehi 33
Story of the game: Ashley Kuchar scored 19 points as Provo
grabbed a big lead and then held off Lehi's comeback attempt to
take the non-region win.
Lehi's best moment: Lehi had a balanced scoring attack. The
Pioneers trailed 24-12 at halftime, but came out and outscored
Provo 16-6 to turn this into a great game. Jackie Cattani had nine
points for Lehi.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs dominated the first half,
especially the second quarter when they stretched their 9-6
first-quarter advantage. Provo's defense forced several turnovers
during that time.
Statistical leaders: Gabby Granthem had eight points for Lehi, and
Elle Brainerd had seven. Lehi shot 12-19 from the free-throw line,
compared to 11-17 for Provo. Center Kelsey Nelson had eight
points for Provo.
What we learned from this game: This was a good, close game
and might help prepare Lehi for other close games in the future.
Next: Lehi travels to Hillcrest for a Dec. 9 game. Provo takes a trip
to Southern Utah Dec. 11-12.

Dec. 4 - Lehi 49, Waterford 16
Story of the game: Katie Rogers scored a season-high 16 points
and Elle Brainerd had 11 as Lehi whipped Waterford in a
non-region game.
Lehi's best moment: This game was never in doubt. Lehi led 13-2
after the first quarter and, when Waterford seemed to want to get
back into it, the Pioneers responded with another big run after
halftime. Jessica Cattani had three treys for Lehi.
Waterford's best moment: The Ravens fell to 0-3 with the loss,
and really didn't have any memorable moments in this game. It
was a decent 5A team playing a bad 3A squad.
Statistical leaders: Ward led Waterford with five points. Their
leading scorer, Katie Miyashima, had just three points. The 16
points was a season-low for Waterford.
What we learned from this game: Not sure who scheduled this
game, but it was not competitive. Lehi improved to 2-1 with the win.
Next: Lehi returns home to play Provo tonight (Dec. 5). Waterford
plays host to Layton Christian tonight, too.

the Deseret News brief, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune
box score, click here.
Dec. 2- Lehi 48, Orem 43
Story of the game: Jackie Cattani had 15 points, including three
straight treys in the second quarter, as Lehi held off Orem and
earned its first win of the season.
Lehi's best moment: The Pioneers took a 14-6 lead in the first
quarter, but Orem slowly clawed back. Briar Sands had eight points
for Lehi.
Orem's best moment: Maggie Plothow had 18 points for Orem,
and she and Angie Helsten led the Tigers' comeback. This was
Orem's season opener.
Statistical leaders: Orem shot 14-24 from the free-throw line, while
Lehi was just 5-9. Orem's six-point effort in the first quarter cost it
the game.
What we learned from this game: Lehi is now 1-1 and it's always
nice to get that first victory.
Next: Lehi travels to Waterford on Dec. 4. Orem has a home game
against Timpanogos the same night.

Herald had the most information. To read the Herald article, click

Nov. 25 - Springville 62, Lehi 38
Story of the game: Ashley Kroneberger scored 21 points and Lexie
Eaton added 19 points and 10 rebounds as Springville's pressure
defense forced 20 turnovers in its opening-game win over Lehi.
Lehi's best moment: If there was one, it had to be the second half.
The Pioneers trailed 29-13 at intermission, so they scored 25 after
that.
Springville's best moment: Kroneberger had five assists, and led
the way on defense, too. Springville pressured Lehi from the start,
and the Pioneers were unable to handle it. More practices will likely
help solve that in the future.
Statistical leaders: Jackie Cattani led Lehi with nine points.
Jensen had nine for Springville. The Red Devils had a big
advantage at the free-throw line, hitting 18-34 shots, compared to
11-17 for Lehi.
What we learned from this game: It's hard to tell. Lehi should be
better than last year (for preview, click here), but was never given a
chance to show it.
Next: Lehi comes home to take on Orem in another non-region
game.
