Feb. 23 - Timpanogos 42, Olympus 17
Story of the game: Morgan Bailey scored 12 points and played a
key role in the Timpanogos defense as the Timberwolves downed
Olympus in the first round of the 4A state tournament.
Oly's highlights: There weren't many as the Titans had trouble
shooting and made just five baskets. However, they shot 7-8 from
the free-throw line. Crystalynn Faletoi led with seven points.
Timpanogos' highlights: Alexa Anderson, Mercedes Riggs and
Bailey got the T-wolves off to a 16-6 start with key baskets, and they
just went on from there. They led 35-15 after three quarters and
Olympus didn't even try to foul late in the game.
Statistical notes: Only 12 free throws were shot in the game. Oly
scored just two points - by Amanda Dibblee - in the fourth quarter.
This was the Titans' lowest-scoring game of the season.
What we learned from this game: Olympus could not match up
with Bailey, and her success played a big role in the rest of the
game. Timpanogos went on to finish second in the tournament.

Story of the game: Hannah Bezdjian scored 11 points and helped
Skyline jump to an early lead en route to a comfortable win over
neighborhood rival Olympus in a non-region game.
Oly's highlights: The Titans had trouble scoring again and didn't
reach double figures until late in the third quarter. They found their
shooting stroke late in the game. Carly Duckworth was the top
scorer with nine points.
Skyline's highlights: The Eagles emptied their bench for most of
the second half. Miquelle Askew and Katie Walker each had eight
points had Skyline improved to 2-2 on the season. Bezdjian had six
rebounds and five steals.

That's at least seven games. Oly shot just 1-3 from the free-throw
line. Skyline was 8-10.
What we learned from this game: This was another disappointing
effort against a local rival, and also a road loss. The team is not

Story of the game: McKenzie Anderson led a balanced-scoring
effort with 10 points as Cottonwood earned its first victory with a
decisive non-region win over Olympus.

shot poorly. They made just nine baskets and were 9-24 from the
free-throw line. Amanda Dibblee led in scoring with seven points.

the opener, and they were ready. Cottonwood led 19-14 at halftime,
then held Oly scoreless in the third period to gain a 15-point lead.

Statistical notes: Carly Duckworth had eight rebounds and four
steals for Oly. Anderson had a pair of three-pointers for
Cottonwood. The Colts emptied their bench and 10 players scored.

game. Cottonwood is a local rival (and former region opponent),
but Oly simply couldn't shoot. It's not known yet if playing away from
home was the difference.
