Oct. 23 - Cottonwood 49, Olympus 14
Story of the game - Isi Sofele ran for 141 yards and three TDs, and QB
Steve Romero tossed a couple of scoring passes to Alo Moli as
Cottonwood throttled Olympus in the regular-season finale for both
teams.
Oly's best moment - Theoretically, the Titans had a chance to reach the
4-A playoffs, but this game was never in doubt. Reserve QB Lance
McGavin entered the game in the second half and threw TD passes to
Spencer Hille and Will Pannier.
Cottonwood's best moment - This game was over early. Cottonwood
led 35-0 midway through the first quarter, scoring on short drives. The
Colts led 49-0 at halftime and reserves filled the game in the second
half.
What we learned from this game - Oly made great strides during the
season, and improved its record from last year. The 2009 season
should be even better. Unfortunately, there is still a big gap between Oly
and Region 6's best team.
Next - Olympus is done for the season. Cottonwood advances to the
4-A playoffs.

Oct. 15 - Olympus 37, Murray 7
Story of the game - QB Spencer Harris passed for two touchdowns
and ran for another as Olympus built a 23-0 halftime lead and went on
to beat Murray in a Region 6 game.
Olympus' best moment - The Titans' offense was working for the
second straight week. Harris had a good game and backup QB Lance
McGavin got to play. He also threw a TD pass.
Murray's best moment - Murray was down 37-0 until Jud Sacco scored
on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.
What was learned from the game - Oly's chance to make the 4-A
playoffs depends on it being able to beat Region 6 power Cottonwood,
and Cyprus had to lose to Granger.
Next - Olympus goes to Cottonwood. Murray travels to Highland.

Oct. 10 - Olympus 34, Granger 31
Story of the game - QB Spencer Harris scored on a two-yard run with
9:46 left in the game as the Titans overcame a huge 289-yard effort by
Granger's Manu Samani to claim their first Region 6 victory on
homecoming night.
Oly's best moment - The Titans scored every time they had the ball in
the first half, and led 27-6 at one point. Harris was 12 of 13 for 220
yards and three TDs by halftime. Jordan Archibald, O.J. Visser and Jace
Peterson caught scoring passes for Olympus.
Granger's' best moment - Samani had the best game of any Utah high
school back this year. He scored three touchdowns, including a 93-yard
run. He also caught three passes for 81 yards. QB Brentt Phillips was
also 7 of 16 for 141 yards.
What was learned from the game - This was a winnable game, and a
great effort by Granger. The Lancers made several big plays on
fourth-down plays. Now, Granger's playoff hopes are limited. It could
come down to the Oct. 24 game against Cyprus.
Next - Olympus hits the road to play Murray. Granger has a home game
against Cottonwood.

Oct. 3 - East 38, Olympus 15
Story of the game - QB Danny Tuai passed for three touchdowns and
the Leopards rallied from a 9-0 deficit to turn back Oly's upset bid in a
Region 6 game.
Oly's best moment - The Titans' problem this season has been an
inconsistent offense, and its defense has given up the most points in
region. Oly gave East a scare immediately by scoring a touchdown and
hitting a field goal in the first quarter.
Region 6 standings
Cottonwood 7 0 284 67 13 1 539 215

East's best moment - Tuai hit Webb, Williams and Swenson for scores, and Tautioli ran 63 yards for a TD to help East turn this game into
a rout. The Leopards' defense did a nice job after the opening few minutes.
What we learned from this game - The Leopards might have been looking forward to next week's game at Cottonwood, and quickly
learned they can't do that.
Next - East travels to play Cottonwood in a game that will likely decide the Region 6 winner. Oly returns home to play Granger.

Sept. 26 - Highland 50, Olympus 13
Story of the game - Nick Orchard and Muli Kinikini rushed for two touchdowns apiece as the Rams' ball-control offense rolled to a 44-0
lead and a surprisingly easy win over Olympus in a Region 6 game.
Oly's best moment - The offense didn't get rolling until the fourth quarter when Spencer Harris scored on a short run. Lance McGavin
added a 72-yard sprint late in the game. Overall, though, this was a disappointing effort for the Titans.
Highland's best moment - The Rams' offense was unstoppable. This was - by far - their best showing this season. Kinikini had 92 yards
on the ground and Orchard had 74. Highland was also able to empty its bench in the second half.
What was learned from the game - Oly still hasn't put together that perfect combination where the offense and defense play well. The
Titans are faring better than last season. They were just beaten by a better team here.
Next week - Olympus travels to East. Highland returns home to take on Cottonwood.

Sept. 19 - West 28, Olympus 21
Story of the game - RB Tana Afeaki had 250 all-purpose yards and QB Daniel Wray ran 65 yards for a touchdown late in the game to lead
West to an exciting 28-21 Region 6 win over Olympus in its homecoming game.
Oly's best moment - QB Spencer Harris came back from last week's injury had more than 300 yards passing, including TD passes to
Carter Young and Austin Walker. Harris also ran for a score.
West's best moment - Afeaki was impressive from the start. He took a swing pass 65 yards on West's first possession to set up a TD.
The next time he touched the ball, he raced 80 yards for a score.
What was learned from the game - West is 2-0 in region play and has won three straight games. While the wins have been against the
region's lower tier, it has given the Panthers momentum.
Next week - Olympus returns home to play Highland. West hits the road to take on Region 6 power Cottonwood.

Sept. 12 - Cyprus 31, Olympus 15
Story of the game - The Pirates found their offense - right away. After suffering two straight shutout losses, George Thomas and Trent Dea
scored two TDs apiece as Cyprus roared past Cyprus in their Region 6 opener at Olympus.
Olympus' best moment - The Titans can score quickly, making it 14-7 when QB Spencer Harris hit Spencer Hille on a 71-yard TD pass.
Harris was later hurt, and was replaced by Lance McGavin. When you lose your starting QB, it's never a good thing.
Cyprus' best moment - The Pirates jumped on Oly immediately. Helped by two long runs by Thomas, Cyprus went 82 yards to go ahead
7-0. After an interception, Cyprus moved the ball again and Dea stretched across the end zone to make it 14-0.
What we learned from this game - This was a winnable game, but the Titans' lost their starting QB and he is very important to this
offense. Oly's defense has given up 30+ points in three games, so that needs to be improved.
Next - Olympus hits the road to play West. Cyprus plays Region 6 power Cottonwood at home.

Sept. 5 - West Jordan 35, Olympus 28
Story of the game - Damien Maestes rushed for 126 yards and Brandt Henslee had 110 more as West Jordan withstood over 160 yards
in penalties and beat upstart Olympus in a non-region game.
West Jordan's best moment - The Jags jumped to a 20-7 lead at halftime, then gave up two quick TDs by Olympus that turned this into a
great game. QB Jace Rogers got back to what worked - the running game - and the Jags moved 80 yards in less than three minutes to
score the winning TD with 37.1 seconds left.
Oly's best moment - Something happened at halftime because the Titans came back quickly. On their first offensive play of the second
half, QB Spencer Harris hit Carter Young on a 64-yard TD pass. Oly's defense was inspired, too, stopping WJ on two straight drives. A
fumble recovery led to another score.
What was learned from the game - West Jordan is for real, and watch out for DE/TE D.J. Tialavea, a 6-foot-5, 270-pounder. He has Div. 1
capability. Also, Oly's spread offense worked. And it was impressive. Harris threw for four TDs, including three to Spencer Hille. Both
teams moved ahead with confidence. This game could be the difference in their season.
Next - Olympus starts Region 6 action with another home game against Cyprus. West Jordan is scheduled to play host to Taylorsville, but
there may be problems with the Jags' home field. More will be known Monday.

Aug. 29 - Olympus 15, Payson 13
Story of the game - Oly QB Spencer Harris found Jace Peterson on a couple of scoring passes, and the Titans' defense held Payson at
the end of the game to claim their first win.
Oly's best moment - Most of the first half belonged to Olympus. Oly got things started quickly when Harris connected with Petersen for a
10-yard strike. The Titans converted the two-point conversion. Harris found Peterson again early in the second quarter for a 30-yard
touchdown.
Payson's best moment - QB Colton Cannon tossed two scoring passes in the final two minutes of the first half, turning a 15-0 deficit to
15-13. Neither team scored in the second half as it turned into a defensive battle.
What was learned from the game - Olympus got its first win. The Titans' spread offense also got in gear, at least for the first half.
Statistics were not available, but the Titans were able to score quickly, which is a good sign for a spead offense team.
Next week - Olympus returns home to play West Jordan in a non-region game. Winless Payson travels to take on Spanish Fork.

Aug. 22 - Hillcrest 31, Olympus 20
Story of the game - Hillcrest QB Kolby Koplin rushed for 103 yards and the Huskies' defense, in particular Colby Brklacich, caused all
kinds of problems in the season-opening win at Olympus. Hillcrest rallied from a 14-0 deficit.
Oly's best moment - The first four minutes. The Titans took the opening kickoff and scored. Then, they stuffed Hillcrest's fake punt attempt
and took over deep in Huskies' territory. It was 14-0 before some people even found their seats.
Hillcrest's best moment - The Huskies shook off the early deficit, which couldn't have been easy after what happened to their team last
year. They were dominating after that. Brklacich led the defense with four sacks by himself.
What was learned from the game - Oly's spread offense started well, then fizzled. The Titans were beaten by Hillcrest's pass rush, which
recorded eight total sacks. Oly need to open its playbook more, in order to call plays that would neutralize the Huskies' rush.
Next week - Olympus has its first road game, taking I-15 south to Payson. Hillcrest plays host to neighbor Murray.
