Feb. 4 - Provo 49, Mountain View 40
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth scored 22 points and Ryan
Durrant was a perfect 4-4 from three-point range as Provo downed
Mountain View in a Region 7 game.
Provo's best moment: Defenses dominated as Provo led just 17-15
at halftime, but opened up a 10-point margin in the third period.
Durrant finished with 12 points, and Keith Moore had six points and
11 rebounds.
Mtn. View's best moment: The Bruins tried to rally in the fourth
period, but couldn't pressure Provo much. Kolton Gourley led the way
with 17 points. Hunter Westwood had 11, including a pair of
three-pointers.
Statistical notes: Provo shot just 11-17 free throws. Mountain View
was 7-7. That may be the Bulldogs' Achilles Heel.
What we learned from this game: Provo won the game, but this
wasn't the Bulldogs' best performance. A win is a win, but this team
isn't playing like a state champion right now.

Feb. 2 - Lehi 53, Provo 51
Story of the game: William Walker scored 18 points, and Zach
Stanley hit two free throws late in the game, and that was the
difference as Lehi handed Provo its first Region 7 loss.
Provo's best moment: Provo controlled the first half and had a 27-20
lead at intermission. Kyle Collinsworth a one-man show with 31
points, including four three-pointers. Provo had a chance to tie - or
win - the game late, but couldn't convert.
Lehi's best moment: The Pioneers rallied in the second half and cut
the margin to two points going into the fourth period. Josh Scott had
a big game with 14 points and 16 rebounds.
Statistical notes: Provo shot just 1-6 from the free-throw line, and
Collinsworth missed most of them. Lehi wasn't much better at 2-8.
What we learned from this game: The two teams split the season
series, with each winning a two-point game on the other's home
court. The Region 7 crown is up for grabs.

game. To read the D-News story, click here. For the Herald article,

Jan. 29 - Provo 75, Timpanogos 51
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth had a career-high 37 points to
lead Provo past Timpanogos in a Region 7 contest.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs led the entire game, and
Collinsworth and Keith Moore combined to score as many points as
Timpanogos. Provo had a 15-point lead at halftime and was never
threatened.
Timpanogos' best moment: The Thunderbirds got 21 points from
Chris Melville, but couldn't match Provo's scoring. Ryan Hamilton
added 10.
Statistical notes: Provo made six three-pointers to just two for
Timpanogos. The T-Birds made 7-8 free throws. Provo's 75 points
was its season high.
What we learned from this game: Collinsworth took over and
Timpanogos never did figure out how to guard him. Durrant had
three treys. Provo showed no sign of a let up from Tuesday's game
and wasn't looking forward to Lehi next.

Deseret News brief, click here. For the Provo Herald brief, click here
and then scroll down. There was no report in the Salt Lake Tribune.
Jan. 26 - Provo 46, Timpview 32
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth scored 19 points and Provo
grabbed a big first-quarter lead to beat Timpview and grab sole
possession of first place in Region 7.
Provo's best moment: The first-quarter onslaught gave the Bulldogs
the lead, and they had another 7-0 spurt to start the fourth quarter that
gave Provo a 17-point margin and ended Timpview's hopes. Keith
Moore added 13 points and Ryan Durrant nine.
Timpview's best moment: The Thunderbirds tried to battle back from
the early deficit and were successful. They cut the margin to 10, but
that was as close as they could get. Christian Covey had a nice
game with 11 points.
Statistical notes: Both teams shot poorly from the free-throw line,
and both made just two three-pointers. All of Collinsworth's points
came from inside. Timpview's 32 points was its season low.
What we learned from this game: This game had a lot of intensity
and the Timpview crowd was loud. It was a good rivalry game. If
Provo can beat Lehi again, it will be in good shape.
Links: All three local newspapers had reporters at the game, and the
Deseret News and Provo Herald sent photographers. To read the

Jan. 22 - Provo 64, Westlake 44
Story of the game: The Kyle Collinsworth show continued as the
Provo senior scored 27 points to lift the Bulldogs to a Region 7 win
over Westlake.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs took a 10-point lead in the first
quarter, and then quietly extended it throughout the second half. Keith
Moore added 13 points as the team improved its home record to 4-2.
Westlake's best moment: The Thunder had its moments. They got
off to a slow start but, led by sophomore John Ursua, they battled for
the rest of the game. Ursua finished with 12 points, and Austin Gleed
added nine.
Statistical notes: Provo shot 13-18 from the free-throw line.
Westlake was 6-11. The Bulldogs made three treys - all from
different players.
What we learned from this game: Despite the Provo Herald article
that said this win was "easy," it really wasn't. Provo was in command,
but the Bulldogs' perimeter shooting as dropped off lately, and that
needs to be addressed.

Deseret News brief, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune box
score, click here. For the Provo Herald brief, click here.
Jan. 19 - Provo 44, Orem 39
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth scored 17 points as Provo
rallied to beat rival Orem in a Region 7 game, despite a
poor-shooting night.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs trailed 12-7 after the first
quarter, but rallied to take a one-point halftime lead. Ryan Durrant
added nine points, and Andrew Finch six, on a pair of three-pointers.
Orem's best moment: The Tigers timed this game right, but still
dropped their first region game. They played good defense and had
a chance to pull off the upset. Sean Peterson led Orem with with 12
points and Rory Sagers had 10.
Statistical notes: Provo shot just 12-22 from the free-throw line,
while Orem was 6-8. The final quarter was exciting, but Provo made
just enough free throws to hold on to the win.
What we learned from this game: The Bulldogs avoided a potential
upset. Surprisingly, there was no local media there. You would think
the Provo media would staff this longstanding rivalry game.

Lake Tribune box score, click here. For the Provo Herald brief, click

Jan. 13 - Provo 70, Mountain View 33
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth scored 24 points and Ryan
Durrant had 16 as Provo blew out Mountain View with a big second
quarter and earned the Region 7 win.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs dominated from the beginning.
They led 17-9 after the first quarter, and then the lead ballooned to 30
points by halftime. Andrew Finch added 12 points on four
three-pointers.
Mtn. View's best moment: The Bruins came back in the fourth
quarter against Provo reserves and actually outscored them 15-8
over the last eight minutes. Kalin Curran was the team's top scorer
with eight points.
Statistical notes: The win was the most lopsided of the season for
Provo. The Bulldogs sank eight three-pointers and shot 12-13 from
the free-throw line.
What we learned from this game: This was a dominating effort and
it showed there was no letdown after last week's win at Lehi and next
week's game against rival Orem.
Links: There was no local media coverage of this game. To read the
Deseret News brief, click here. There was no report in the Salt Lake
Tribune or Provo Herald.
Jan. 8 - Provo 48, Lehi 46
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth scored the game-winning
basket with four seconds left as Provo escaped with a win over Lehi
in the Region 7 opener for both teams.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs took the early lead, hitting five
three-pointers in the first quarter. Collinsworth led Provo with 20
points. At the end, he calmly took control of the ball. He made the
basket, and also was fouled on the play.
Lehi's best moment: The Pioneers trailed 36-25 at halftime, but lifted
the home crowd's excitement with a big rally. Will Walker's basket
and free throw with 55 seconds left tied the game and set up the
exciting end.
Statistical notes: Collinsworth added 10 rebounds and nine assists
to his scoring total. Walker had 23 points for Lehi, and Josh Scott
added 10 points and 14 rebounds. Keith Moore had 12 points and
Ryan Durrant 11 for Provo.
What we learned from this game: This was one of the best games
of the season, and it's a shame it couldn't have been played at the
end of the schedule.

News, Provo Herald and Utah Sports Action (USA) had

Dec. 30 - Provo 45, Salem Hills 42
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth scored 24 points, but it was
Ryan Durrant's three-pointer with three seconds left that lifted Provo
past upset-minded Salem Hills in a non-region game.
Provo's best moment: Most expected Collinsworth to take the
last-second shot, but he dished it to Durrant instead. Durrant
finished with 12 points, all in the second half, as the Bulldogs rallied
from a three-point halftime deficit.
Salem Hills' best moment: Joseph Mohrmann scored 14 points,
including eight in the fourth quarter, as Salem Hills rallied at the end.
London Simonsen added 13. Mac Marrelli nailed a trey just before
halftime to give Salem Hills the lead at that point.
Statistical notes: Provo nailed seven three-pointers in the game.
Provo was 6-15 from the free-throw line. Salem Hills was 4-7. Jordan
Robles had eight rebounds for the Skyhawks.
What we learned from this game: Provo got Salem Hills' best and
escaped with the victory in a hostile environment. A lot of games will
likely go this way. The Region 7 season is next at Lehi.
Links: The Provo Herald had a reporter and a photographer at the
game. To read the Herald story, click here. To see the Deseret News
brief, click here. There was no report in the Salt Lake Tribune.
Dec. 22 - Alta 62, Provo 55 (OT)
Story of the game: Jordan Brown scored 21 points, including several
key baskets late in the game, as Alta rallied to edge Provo in an
exciting overtime contest.
Provo's best moment: Provo say plenty of bright spots, despite the
loss. Kyle Collinsworth scored 29 points and had two big baskets
late in the fourth quarter that allowed Provo to tie the game. Keith
Moore added 10 points.
Alta's best moment: The Hawks trailed 21-6 after the first quarter,
but did not panic. Brown led the rally in the second quarter as Alta cut
the margin to five. The game stayed close until Brown broke free for a
pair of layups in the OT.
Statistical notes: Kyle Davis had 16 points and 10 boards for Alta,
and 6-foot-9 Cody Johnson had a season-high 10 points. Alta was
only 11-22 from the free-throw line, but hit them when it counted.
What we learned from this game: There is no shame in this loss,
but there is a concern about Provo's 1-2 record in close games.
Collinsworth made big plays, but can anyone else?
Links: The Deseret News and Provo Herald had reporters at the
game. To read the D-News story, click here. To view the Herald
article, click here. For the Salt Lake Tribune box score, click here.
Dec. 18 - Provo 38, Spanish Fork 32
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth, Ryan Durrant and Andrew
Finch hit key baskets in the last three minutes of the game to help
Provo hold off Spanish Fork in a non-region game.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs led most of the game, but
Spanish Fork rallied to take a one-point lead late in the game.
Provo's defense did not allow another point. Collinsworth finished
with 16 points and Durrant had 13.
Spanish Fork's best moment: The Dons slowed the pace. Even after
trailing 12-4 early, they played their game and took the lead on a free
throw by Chase Loftin. Travis Still had nine points and Loftin eight.
Statistical notes: Durrant had three treys for Provo. The point totals
were season lows - to date - for Provo. The Bulldogs were 6-9 from
the free-throw line. Spanish Fork was 7-14.
What we learned from this game: Coach Craig Drury said he
expects other teams to slow the game, just like Spanish Fork. He
praised the play of Justin Ethington and Seth Rhineer.

game. To read the Herald story, click here. To see the Deseret News
brief, click here. For the Salt Lake Tribune box score, click here.
Dec. 17 - Provo 56, Maple Mtn. 39
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth scored 22 points, but it was
Provo's defense that held Maple Mountain scoreless in the first
quarter, and that allowed the Bulldogs to earn the convincing victory.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs led 9-0 after the first period, and
then extended the margin to 32-7 at halftime. Provo was able to
empty the bench in the second half. Ryan Durrant added 10 points
and Andrew Finch had eight.
Maple Mountain's best moment: The Golden Eagles finally got their
offense going in the second half and rallied to make the score look
better. Kelby Crandall was the top scorer with 11 points, while
Cameron Starr had nine, including three treys.
Statistical notes: Provo improved to 3-0 on the road. Defensively,
this was Provo's best game to date. Maple Mountain outscored Provo
21-10 in the final period.
What we learned from this game: This was Provo's second straight
easy win, but it wasn't too surprising since it came over a new
school. The Eagles couldn't match up with Collinsworth.

Deseret News brief, click here. To see the Provo Herald brief, click

Dec. 11 - Provo 79, Logan 46

points and grabbed a 28-4 lead after the first quarter. Kyle
Collinsworth had 16 points and Keith Moore 14 as nine players
scored. Provo shot seven three-pointers.
Logan's best moment: Luke Falk was Logan's leading scorer with
10 points. Josh Sadler added eight points as Logan fell to 1-1 on the
season.
Statistical notes: Provo's 79 points was a season high. Provo shot
14-27 from the free-throw line. Logan was 1-8.
What we learned from this game: This was an impressive win for
Provo and the Bulldogs earned their first home victory of the season.

Dec. 4 - Provo 57, Mtn. Crest 46
Story of the game: Kyle Collinsworth scored a season-high 27
points as Provo rallied to get past Mountain Crest in a non-region
game.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs trailed 14-9 after the first
quarter, but came back to take a seven-point lead going into the final
period. Ryan Durrant and Kaleio Manuela each had 10 points.
Mtn. Crest's best moment: Matt Stewart scored 16 points and Alex
Kuresa had 14 as Mountain Crest took the lead in the first quarter,
and then stayed close until the end. Tyler Weese added 12 points.
Statistical notes: Mountain Crest shot 14-17 from the free-throw line.
Provo was 7-11. Durrant had two of Provo's four three-pointers.
What we learned from this game: This was Provo's first real road
trip and, despite the tough playing conditions, the Bulldogs handled it
well and emerged with a victory.
Links: There was no local media coverage of this game. To read the
Logan Herald-Journal brief, click here. To see the Deseret News
brief, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune box score, click here.
Dec. 1 - American Fork 52, Provo 50
Story of the game: Ben Beddes scored 18 points as American Fork
rallied to beat Provo in two overtimes in a non-region game.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs jumped to a 10-6 first-quarter
lead and held it until American Fork tied it to send the game into
overtime. Kyle Collinsworth led the team with 19 points and eight
rebounds. Kaleio Manuela had 11 points.
American Fork's best moment: The Cavemen came back and took
the win behind Beddes and Marcel Davis, who had 13 points.
Statistical notes: The game was tied 45-45 at the end of regulation.
Ryan Durrant had just four points.
What we learned from this game: The Cavemen handed Provo its
first loss but, judging from the first two games, it's possible the
Bulldogs aren't as good as last season. Plus, other teams are
saving their best for them.
Links: There was no local media coverage of this game. To read the
Deseret News brief, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune box
score, click here.
Nov. 25 - Provo 63, Springville 60
Story of the game: Ryan Durrant scored 25 points and Provo held off
Springville in the season opener for both teams.
Provo's best moment: The Bulldogs led most of the game, but it
was close all the way. Durrant's 25 points was a career high. Kyle
Collinsworth had 14 points and 16 assists.
Springville's best moment: Raul Delgado had 19 points and Sam
Schreiner 15 for the Red Devils, who had a chance to tie the game,
but turned the ball over. Geoff Prusak added 13 points.
Statistical notes: Provo led 28-25 at halftime, and each team scored
35 points in the second half. Durrant had seven three-pointers and
Keith Moore had four treys.
What we learned from this game: This was a great game and
showed that, while Provo might be a 4A state title contender again,
there's not that much difference between the top teams.
Links: The Deseret News had a reporter at the game. To read the
D-News story, click here. There was no report in the Salt Lake
