Oct. 30 - Pleasant Grove 36, Riverton 21
Story of the game - Reserve QB Donny Lewis came off the bench to
lead two second-half touchdown drives, and RB Jeff Harris ran for
193 yards as Pleasant Grove went on the road and beat Riverton in
the first round of the 5A playoffs.
Riverton's best moment - RB Tua Laei had one of his best games of
the season, with 201 all-purpose yards, as Riverton took a 21-20
lead into intermission, and seemed to have the advantage.
PG's best moment - The Vikings trailed 21-20 at halftime, and QB
Dallas Lloyd seemed to reinjure his shoulder on the final play before
intermission. Lewis came in and had a long run that led to the
go-ahead TD and PG kept Riverton from scoring.
What we learned from this game - While Pleasant Grove was the
higher-seeded team, this was no upset. In this case, there
apparently were some halftime adjustments made that made the
difference in teh game.
Next - Riverton ended with a 5-5 record. Pleasant Grove advances to
play at Davis in a 5A quarterfinal.

Oct. 16 - Bingham 35, Riverton 7
Story of the game - Harvey Langi rushed for 122 yards and scored
two touchdowns, but Bingham's defense stole the show, and
Kamron Coon made the game's big play with a 28-yard interception
return for a score to give the Miners the Region 3 championship.
Riverton's best moment - The Silverwolves had their high points in
the third quarter. A 31-yard screen pass from QB Eric Thoreson to
Jake Bowman set up RB Dillon Draper's 1-yard run. That gave
Riverton momentum, but it couldn't keep it long.
Bingham's best moment - The Miners blew the game open early.
Coon's TD return was part of a 21-0 first-quarter spurt that made
sure this game was over early. Langi's touchdown runs came in the
fourth quarter to finally ice the game.
What we learned from this game - The loss was difficult, but not
unexpected. Riverton does earn second place and will play host in a
first-round 5A playoff game. The opponent will be from Region 4.
Next: Riverton has completed its schedule, but has earned a
post-season berth. Bingham travels to Taylorsville.

the Salt Lake Tribune sent a photographer. To read the Deseret

Oct. 9 - Riverton 57, Taylorsville 6
Story of the game - RB Dillon Draper rushed for 109 yards and three
touchdowns, and Jentz Painter returned a blocked punt 25 yards for a
score as Riverton whipped Taylorsville and set itself up for a Region
3 title bid next week.
Riverton's best moment - This game was never in doubt. Riverton
led 36-0 at halftime. Draper led a rushing attack that accumulated
306 yards on the ground. Riverton emptied the bench in the second
half.
Taylorsville's best moment - The Warriors battled back early in the
fourth quarter and got on the scoreboard on a 12-yard run by Devon
Keeling.
What we learned from this game - This was Riverton's
highest-scoring game this season. The Silverwolves averaged over
seven yards per carry, and were able to dominate time of
possession.
Next: Riverton plays at Bingham. Taylorsville has a non-region home
game against Jordan.

score, click here.
Sept. 30 - Alta 47, Riverton 7
Story of the game - QB Boston Handley, starting in place of the
injured Jordan Brown, threw four touchdown passes and Alta's
defense held Riverton in check en route to a decisive non-region
victory.
Riverton's best moment - With the usually-potent offense unable to
help, Conner Evans returned a kickoff 95 yards for Riverton's only
score. Cole Osborne had 13 tackles for the defense.
Alta's best moment - The Hawks dominated in all facets of the
game. Besides Handley's big game, Alta's Parker Hausknecht
returned a fumble 35 yards for a touchdown, and the team also
recorded a safety.
What we learned from this game - If Riverton is the second-best
team in Region 3, there might be a real talent disparity. The
Silverwolves' defense, which played so well last week, was torn to
shreds by Alta's second-team QB.
Next - Riverton takes on Taylorsville. Alta goes to American Fork.

D-News story, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune box score,

Sept. 24 - Riverton 14, West Jordan 6
Story of the game - Jordan Zymola and Tua Laei scored
touchdowns, but the real story was Riverton's defense, which forced
five turnovers and allowed the Silverwolves to earn the Region 3 win.
Riverton's best moment - The Silverwolves went up 14-0 on an
8-minute drive in the fourth quarter, which finally gave them some
breathing room. West Jordan didn't score until late in the game. This
might have been the defense's finest outing of the season.
West Jordan's best moment - QB Adam Boelter was off. Later, West
Jordan coaches realized he suffered a concussion and that resulted
in several "misreads." Boelter did hit Deshawn Perkins on a 14-yard
TD pass late in the game.
What we learned from this game - The win likely gave Riverton a 5A
playoff berth, and a first-round playoff home game. Jentz Painter was
one of the big heroes, with an interception and fumble recovery.
Next - Riverton takes on Alta in a non-region game. West Jordan
goes to Taylorsville.

game. To read the D-News story, click here. There was no report in
the Salt Lake Tribune To see the D-News photo gallery, click here.
Sept. 18 - Riverton 49, Copper Hills 35
Story of the game - Tua Laei ran for 101 yards and the Riverton
offense, in general, ran through the Copper Hills defense in the first
half and held on for a comfortable Region 3 victory.
Riverton's' best moment - The Silverwolves scored 28 points before
Copper Hills got on the board. Riverton scored quickly - six of its
seven TDs were from 11 yards of further away. This was also a great
offensive effort for Riverton.
Copper Hills' best moment - This was the Grizzlies' best offensive
performance of the season. QB Quin Wright completed 28 of 39
passes for 444 yards, almost a school record, in the loss. CH scored
the game's last three touchdowns.
What we learned from this game - The Silverwolves dominated the
first half, but lost momentum late in the game when Copper Hills
rallied. We'll have to see what effect that might have had.
Next - Riverton takes on West Jordan. Copper Hills plays Taylorsville.

Deseret News brief, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune box
score, click here.
Sept. 11 - Riverton 22, Kearns 6
Story of the game - Dillon Draper rushed and Tua Laei had big
nights running the ball as Riverton spoiled Kearns' homecoming in
both teams' Region 3 opener.
Riverton's best moment - The Silverwolves rushed for nearly 300
yards, but the biggest was Laei's 72-yard run in the second quarter
that broke a scoreless tie and gave Riverton the momentum.
Kearns' best moment - The Cougars couldn't muster much offense
on this night, but finally reached the end zone when QB J.R. Finai hit
Sammy Sweat on a 29-yard scoring pass.
What we learned from this game - This was the Region 3 opener,
and Kearns' offense was silenced. This was a nice defensive effort
by Riverton, and sorely needed after what happened the last two
weeks.
Next - Riverton takes on Copper Hills at home. Kearns travels to
Taylorsville.
Links - The Deseret News had a reporter at the game. To read the
D-News story, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune box score,

Sept. 4 - Lone Peak 38, Riverton 26
Story of the game - Jared Fenton returned two kickoffs for
touchdowns and the Lone Peak special-teams unit accounted for 24
points as the Knights held off Riverton in a non-region game.
Riverton's best moment - This was a winnable game, but too many
special-teams errors. RB Dillon Draper had a big game, rushing for
two touchdowns and catching another scoring pass. Despite all the
mishaps, Riverton only trailed by five at halftime.
Lone Peak's best moment - The Knights managed to have an
answer for every Riverton score in the first half, and also recovered a
blocked punt in the end zone. In the second half, QB Tannon
Pedersen added a couple of TD passes that made the difference in
the victory.
What we learned from this game - Special teams cost Riverton this
game, and you can bet that will be brought up in practice. Games are
decided by offense, defense and special teams and it's good that is
learned prior to the region season.
Next - Riverton opens Region 3 play at Kearns. Lone Peak starts
Region 4 action at home against Brighton.

game. To read the D-News story, click here. To view the Herald's
article, click here. There was no report in the Salt Lake Tribune.
Aug. 28 - American Fork 34, Riverton 27
Story of the game - Cade Zarbock scored three touchdowns for the
second straight game, and Josh Brown had two interceptions,
returning one for the game-clinching touchdown, as American Fork
downed Riverton in a non-region game.
Riverton's best moment - The Silverwolves were able to move the
ball. QB Eric Thoreson completed 14-21 passes, and Riverton ran
for 256 yards. The turnovers hurt, though, and Riverton was unable to
make up a 27-14 halftime deficit.
American Fork's best moment - The Cavemen improved to 2-0.
Brown's interception was the killer as Riverton was driving for the
tying touchdown at the time.
What we learned from this game - The loss dropped Riverton to
1-1, but it was to a quality team and coach Mike Miller's team will
learn from the experience. The opener, after all, against Lehi was not
a good indicator.
Next - Riverton travels to Lone Peak, while American Fork plays at
Timpanogos.
Links - There was no local media coverage of this game. To read the
Deseret News brief, click here. To view the Salt Lake Tribune box
score, click here.
Aug. 21 - Riverton 44, Lehi 0
Story of the game - Dillon Draper scored four touchdowns and
Jordan Zymola had a 67-yard scamper for a score, but Riverton's
defense stole the show with five interceptions and bounced Lehi in
each team's season opener.
Riverton's best moment - Riverton led 19-0 at halftime, then opened
it up in the third quarter. Besides the interceptions, the Silverwolves
also blocked a punt.
Lehi's best moment - This was a tough opener for the Pioneers,
who don't have the depth they had last year and went up against a
good 5A team. There wasn't much good to report. Fortunately,
Riverton will probably be the best team Lehi will face this year.
What we learned from this game - Good win for coach Mike
Morgan's team, which recorded its first shutout in two years. Defense
wins titles, and this showing might be the first sign that Riverton can
challege for the Region 3 title.
Next - Riverton goes to American Fork. Lehi plays at Springville.
