Feb. 12 - Stansbury 65, Woods Cross 49
Story of the game - Taylor Hunt had his biggest game of the season,
scoring 28 points, as Stansbury dominated the fourth quarter and
routed Woods Cross for its first Region 6 win of the season.
Stansbury's best moment - The Stallions led 33-30 entering the fourth
period, then put up 32 points to win going away. Hunt had four
three-pointers in the game, and Stansbury helped itself by making
24-31 free throws.
WX's best moment - The Wildcats trailed 18-12 after the first period,
but rallied to tie the game at halftime. Austin Bankowski led the team in
scoring with 21 points, and Steven Sperry added nine.
Statistical notes - The 49 points given up was Stansbury's best effort in
region play. The 32 points in one quarter was also a season high.
Reggie Roberts added 10 points. This was Woods Cross' first loss
since Bankowski returned from injury.
What we learned from this game - Stansbury celebrated its first region
victory and now actually has a chance to tie Tooele in the region
standings.

Feb. 9 - Bountiful 69, Stansbury 62
Story of the game - McKay LaSalle scored 20 points and Nick Williams
had 17 as Bountiful built a comfortable lead and then held off Stansbury
in a Region 2 game.
Stansbury's best moment - The Stallions outscored Bountiful 20-14 in
the final period, but didn't seriously threaten the home team. Ty Barton
had 20 points and just missed his season high. Taylor Hunt had 15
and Reggie Roberts 14.
Bountiful's best moment - The Braves led the entire game and had a
55-42 margin going into the final period. The Braves connected on 6-7
free throws. Dillon Salazar added nine points and Dan Prawitt seven.
Statistical notes - Bountiful won its sixth straight home game, and is
7-1 in its gym this season. Bountiful won the season series, and kept
Stansbury winless in region.
What we learned from this game - The Stallions upgraded their game
and gave Bountiful a battle. Barton, Hunt and Roberts each were a
threat to score. Stansbury is out of the playoff race, but perhaps the
team could still make some noise.

Feb. 5 - Highland 63, Stansbury 41
Story of the game: Nate Fakahafua scored 14 points and Marcel Maez
joined two other teammates with 10 pointe each as Highland bounced
Stansbury in a Region 6 game.
Stansbury's best moment: The Stallions really didn't get their offense
going until making a big push in the fourth quarter. By then, however, it
was too late. Taylor Hunt led with 13 points and Brandon Mohler had
nine.
Highland's best moment: The Rams played their game, and had no
trouble building a comfortable lead. Lew Evans and Sam Orchard
joined Maez with 10 points. This was Maez's first varsity game
experience.
Statistical notes: Highland led 30-15 at halftime. Stansbury had two
three-pointers; Highland had three. Ben Johnson had eight points and
played well for the second straight game.
What we learned from this game: The Stallions are getting beaten by
bigger margins now, and likely will finish in the region cellar. The
question is whether they will win a region game this season.

Deseret News brief, click here. There was no report in the Salt Lake
Tribune.
Feb. 2 - Olympus 83, Stansbury 62
Story of the game: Connor Brady scored a career-high 30 points as
Olympus built a big lead early and downed Stansbury in a Region 6
contest.
Stansbury's best moment: Ty Barton scored 22 points and Taylor Hunt
18 as Stansbury stayed with Olympus in the second and third periods.
The Stallions had their offense working, but couldn't catch up to the
Titans.
Oly's best moment: Brady had a big night, and even hit three treys. Ben
Sonntag added 15 points. The Titans led 56-44 after three quarters,
and then poured it on in the final period and won handily.
Statistical notes: Oly's 83-point effort was - by far - its season high.
Reggie Roberts added 14 for Stansbury. Ten players scored for Oly.
What we learned from this game: Stansbury has yet to record a
Region 6 victory and that pretty much ends its chances of making the
post season. Stansbury has not won a home game in region.

Jan. 29 - Tooele 56, Stansbury 45
Story of the game: Jacob Holt and Travis Brady scored 15 points
apiece and Tooele put the game away with perfect shooting in the third
quarter en route to a Region 6 win over rival Stansbury.
Stansbury's best moment: The Stallions played tough in the first half,
but leading scorer Taylor Hunt had a bad night. Reggie Roberts took up
the slack and had a season-high 22 points.
Tooele's best moment: The Buffaloes led 28-24 at halftime, but hit all
nine of their shots in the third period and eventually built a 15-point
advantage to win the first game in this rivalry.
Statistical notes: Holt had four of Tooele's seven three-pointers.
Roberts had three for Stansbury. Stansbury made just 5-11 free throws.
Tooele was 9-13.
What we learned from this game: The Buffaloes earned bragging
rights in this first boys basketball game between the two county rivals.
The teams play again Feb. 23.

Jan. 26 - East 72, Stansbury 51
Story of the game: Dakota Marsden tied his season high with 21
points as East pummeled Stansbury for his third victory of the year, and
second in Region 6 play.
Stansbury's best moment: The Stallions made a nice rally in the third
period to cut the margin to eight points. Reggie Roberts was the top
scorer with 14 points. Taylor Hunt, Ty Barton and Brandon Mohler had
nine points each.
East's best moment: Marsden nailed five three-pointers and opened
up the Leopards' offense. East had just an eight-point lead going into
the fourth period, but really opened it up from there. Parker Van Dyke
added 13 points and Jack Larson and James Christianson had 11
each.
Statistical notes: The 72-point effort was East's best this season, as
was the 21-point victory. Marsden had five of East's six three-pointers.
Roberts had two treys for Stansbury.
What we learned from this game: The Stallions gave up 72 points,
and it's tough to win a game when you give up that many. This was
probably East's best game so far this season.

Deseret News brief, click here. There was no report in the Salt Lake

Jan. 19 - Woods Cross 62, Stansbury 48
Story of the game: Ryan Anderson scored 21 points and Cory Gerrard
had a season-high 12 as Woods Cross won its first game since Austin
Bankowski was injured, beating Stansbury in a Region 6 matchup.
Stansbury's best moment: The Stallions played tough behind Taylor
Hunt, who scored 18 points, and Ty Barton, who had 13. The team was
competitive, but fell for the fourth straight game.
WX's best moment: The Wildcats have had to retool their game with
Bankowski's absence. Anderson had his second-best scoring game of
the season and helped WX just slowly build its lead throughout the
game. Steven Sperry had nine points and five assists.
Statistical notes: Woods Cross shot 18-26 from the free-throw line,
while Stansbury was 9-11. Hunt had three treys, and Reggie Roberts
had two. Woods Cross was credited with 13 steals.
What we learned from this game: The Stallions now begin a
four-game home stand with hopes of winning its first region game. The
Jan. 29 Tooele game was moved to Stansbury due to a conflict at
Tooele.

Jan. 15 - Bountiful 78, Stansbury 50

by 20 points at intermission. Dan Prawitt added 14 points and Dan
Prawitt and Adam Salazar had 10 each. Bountiful substituted freely in
the second half.
Statistical notes: In Bountiful's last four games LaSalle has scored 30,
7, 2 and 25 points. Who can figure that? The Braves made 10
three-pointers. The 78 points given up by Stansbury was a season high.
What we learned from this game: This was Stansbury's worst loss of
the season and first defeat at home this year, too. The Stallions moved
to the cellar of Region 6.

Deseret News brief, click here. There was no report in the Salt Lake

Jan. 12 - Highland 60, Stansbury 44
Story of the game: Sam Orchard took the scoring load, putting up 23
points, as Highland built a big first-half lead and downed Stansbury in a
Region 6 game.
Stansbury's best moment: The Stallions played evenly with Highland
in the second half, but couldn't cut the lead. Taylor Hunt had 19 points
and Ty Barton added 12.
Highland's best moment: The Rams dominated the opening half,
building a 36-21 lead. Highland nailed six three-pointers and also got
11 points from Lew Evans and 10 from Alex Fatzinger-Bruce.
Statistical notes: The 60 points was one of Highland's best offensive
efforts this season. Orchard boosted his average to 16.6 ppg and has
scored in every game but one. Reggie Roberts had just one point.
What we learned from this game: The Stallions caught Highland at
less than full strength, but the defense couldn't put up enough of a
challenge. Stansbury has yet to win a road game.

Dec. 19 - Delta 45, Stansbury 33

Stansbury for five points in each of the first two quarters. Colin

quarter, the biggest scoring burst by the Stallions this year. Both teams
shot about 60 percent from the free-throw line.

apiece as Westlake took advantage of Stansbury's free-throw shooting

rallied in the third quarter to cut the margin to 34-31. Taylor Hunt led

Westlake's best moment - Westlake led the entire way, and shook off
Stansbury's comeback with a run in the fourth quarter. Zach Dean
chipped in with 10 points as 10 players scored.
Statistical notes - This was Westlake's first win as a school. Westlake
was 17-25 from the free-throw line, while Stansbury was only 13-36.
The Stallions left a lot of points off the scoreboard. Westlake led 15-6
after the first quarter.

so this was their first battle in the "major" sports, and it showed. This
was the start of a good rivalry.
