Oct. 22 - Tooele 21, Stansbury 14

Story of the game - QB Milo Leakehe rushed for 167 yards, including a
40-yard run late in the game that allowed Tooele to run out the clock,
and that ended up being the difference in the Buffaloes' Region 6 victory
over rival Stansbury.

Stansbury's best moment - The Stallions rallied in the second half.
Austin Butler scored on a 2-yard run and then QB Clint Peterson
connected with Payeton Reed on a 38-yard TD, but Stansbury couldn't
get closer than seven points.

Tooele's best moment - Leakehe came back from injury to have one of
his best games of the season. The Buffaloes never trailed. They led
14-6 at halftime and held Stansbury out of the end zone in the fourth
quarter.

What we learned from this game - The Stallions won their opener, but
couldn't muster another victory. They were, at least, competitive in this
game. The fans also traveled well. The game drew a huge crowd at
Tooele's field.

Next - This was the final game of the season for both teams.

Oct. 16 - Bountiful 46, Stansbury 7

Story of the game - QB Tyler Talbot threw three touchdown passes,
and the Bountiful defense also scored a couple of times as the Braves
buried Stansbury in a Region 6 game.

Stansbury's best moment - Austin Butler scored on a 1-yard run to
prevent the shutout. The Stallions have been shut out twice this
season, but have scored late to prevent a shutout on several other
occasions.

Bountiful's best moment - Bountiful led 15-0 after one quarter and then
made it 39-0 by halftime. This was a one-sided game and Braves
embarrassed the home team in their final home game of the season.

What we learned from this game - This was probably not a winnable
game, and it's kind of sad that the last home game had to end this way.
Still, next week's game at Tooele will be a big game and a lot of the
home fans will be there.

Next - Stansbury plays at rival Tooele. Bountiful plays at Olympus.

Tribune.

Oct. 9 - Olympus 51, Stansbury 0

Story of the game - Spencer Harris passed for two touchdowns and
ran for another as Olympus jumped to a 34-0 halftime lead and buried
Stansbury to win its homecoming game.

Stansbury's best moment - Olympus is a good team, but not that
good. Stansbury didn't show up, and that has to frustrate coach Clint
Christiansen. There was more to this game than is being told.

Oly's best moment - The score was 20-0 after one quarter, and the
Olympus defense held the visitors to less than 100 yards total offense.
This was probably the most one-sided game in Region 6 this season.

What we learned from this game - You won't win many games when
you don't get 100 yards. Oly even filled the game with reserves, and that
didn't make a difference. Stansbury has been outscored 124-13 in road
games.

Next - Stansbury plays host to Bountiful. Olympus takes on West.

Sept. 30 - Woods Cross 38, Stansbury 6

Story of the game - Parker Rose ran for two touchdowns, and Woods
Cross picked up scores on a blocked punt and a fumble return en route
to a decisive win over Stansbury in a Region 6 game.

Stansbury's best moment - E.J. Jones scored on a 1-yard run in the
fourth quarter to prevent the shutout. Stansbury scored one touchdown
or less for the third time this season.

WX's best moment - The Wildcats led 21-0 at halftime and put the
game away in the third quarter, thanks to a 28-yard touchdown pass
from QB Tyler Parson to Brian Sperry, Jordan O'Toole's 65 yard fumble
return and a field goal.

What we learned from this game - Clearly, Stansbury has problems
with its offense. It has been especially noticeable in the region games.
The team now has no chance of post-season play, but there is still
homecoming and the Tooele game remaining.

Next - Stansbury goes to Olympus. Woods Cross takes on Tooele.

Sept. 25 - Highland 34, Stansbury 0

Story of the game - RB Toi Taufa rushed for 131 yards, and Jonny
Drage anchored Highland's defense with two sacks as the Rams
blanked Stansbury in a Region 6 game.

Stansbury's best moment - No information was available.

Highland's best moment - QB Mason Keller rushed for 67 yards and
passed for 102, including a 47-yard touchdown pass to Nate
Fakahafua. The Rams led just 7-0 at halftime, but opened it up in the
third quarter with a pair of touchdowns.

What we learned from this game - This was a blowout win, but
Highland is playing well right now, and could end up being the region
champs. The schedule doesn't get any easier, though.

Next - Stansbury plays at Woods Cross. Highland has a home game
against
Olympus.

Sept. 11 - East 38, Stansbury 7

Story of the game - RB Ed Fakahafua rushed for 144 yards on 12
carries, and East picked up touchdowns on defense and special teams
en route to the Leopards first win of the season.

Stansbury's best moment - QB Ryan Hunt connected with Darius
Lopez on a 35-yard scoring pass for Stansbury's only touchdown.
Derrek Christensen and Austin Butler each had three QB sacks for
Stansbury.

East's best moment - The Leopards led just 3-0 in the second quarter.
Then Angel Castellanos returned a punt 69 yards for a touchdown, and
Nick Sessions added a 17-yard fumble return to keep the Leopards
ahead when their offense wasn't working well.

What we learned from this game - East's win wasn't surprising, but
what was surprising was the size of the victory. The Leopards won with
defense, and other region opponents are going to be just as good.

Next - Stansbury is off until it takes on Highland at home Sept. 25. East
plays at
Olympus.

Sept. 4 - Ogden 35, Stansbury 7

Story of the game - Nik Allred and Shawn Muniz combined for a couple
of touchdown passes and Alfonso Perea returned the second-half
kickoff for a touchdown as Ogden buried Stansbury in a non-region
game and improved to 3-0.

Stansbury's best moment - The Stallions avoided the shutout when
QB Taylor Hunt hit Payeton Reed on a 24-yard scoring pass. Stansbury
trailed just 7-0 at halftime, and actually did a nice job defensively on
Ogden for a while.

Ogden's best moment - Allred got the offense going in the second half,
and the kickoff return was the key because it gave Ogden momentum.
There was a discrepancy among the media reports as to Allred's actual
passing yardage.

What we learned from this game - Stansbury went up against a good
team, and it showed. Still, the new school has made progress and
seems to be the best of the new schools this year.

Next - Stansbury opens the Region 6 season at home against winless
East. Ogden has a non-region game at Ben Lomond.

Aug. 28 - Provo 45, Stansbury 22

Story of the game - Maka Unufe ran for two touchdowns and returned
an interception 10 yards for another score as Provo handed Stansbury
its first loss (ever) in a non-region game.

Stansbury's best moment - Trailing 14-0, the Stallions got on the
board on an 88-yard run Ivan Sanchez. Stansbury's offense had limited
success against Provo, but never gave up.

Provo's best moment - The Bulldogs' defense played well, and even
scored twice. Michael Ormsby returned a fumble for the game's first
score and Unufe added another. Provo led 24-8 at halftime and was
never headed.

What we learned from this game - The loss wasn't surprising as
Provo will likely be a pretty good 4A team and Stansbury is still in its first
year. The home team, at least, did provide the fans with some
excitement.

Next - Stansbury travels to take on Ogden. Provo plays host to West
Jordan.

Deseret News brief,

Aug. 21 - Stansbury 35, Maple Mountain 7

Story of the game - RBs E.J. Jones, Payeton Reed and Gareth
Anderson combined for over 250 yards rushing as Stansbury opened
its football program with a convincing home win over Maple Mountain.

Stansbury's best moment - The defense stopped Maple Mountain
throughout the first half, and ended up with seven sacks. That allowed
Stansbury to earn a 14-0 lead and gain the confidence it needed in its
first game.

Maple Mountain's best moment - This was also the first game for the
Golden Eagles, and their slow start didn't help. Maple Mountain did rally
on on a short TD run by QB Jacob Watson. The Eagles then stopped
Stansbury, but were flagged for a penalty on the punt, which gave the
ball back, and the Colts went in to score.

What we learned from this game - This was a game between two
"expansion" schools and you never know what could happen. It was a
good win for Stansbury, and its fans enjoyed watching it.

Next - Stansbury takes on Provo at home. Maple Mountain will play host
to Westlake in another battle of new schools.
