Oct. 24 - Hillcrest 30, Taylorsville 0
Story of the game - Hillcrest QB Kolby Koplin threw four touchdown
passes and the Huskies' defense played their best game of the
season, recording their first shutout, as Hillcrest claimed their first
Region 2 win.
Taylorsville's best moment - It has been a tough season for the
Warriors, but there has been some progress. Actual info from this
game was limited.
Hillcrest's best moment - Whenever you win a game, the best part
is when you realize you have won. For Hillcrest, this game wasn't in
doubt. However, Matt Augustyne's interception return late in the
game had to have the sidelines cheering.
What we learned from this game - This game was between two
teams looking for respectability, and it appears Hillcrest is ahead.
Taylorsville's offense needs work. The Warriors scored just 13
points in five region games.
Next: Both teams have completed their seasons.
Links: There was no media coverage of the game, and little
information available.
Oct. 15 - Alta 45, Taylorsville 0
Story of the game - Alta's defense had a great night, holding
Taylorsville to 38 yards total offense, and the Hawks got defensive
touchdowns from Skyler Mayne and Trey Phillips en route to the easy
Region 2 victory.
Taylorsville's best moment - The "mercy rule" kept the clock running
in the second half. This really wasn't a winnable game for the
Warriors, who have been shut out four times this season and will
play Hillcrest next week in a battle of winless region teams.
Alta's best moment - This game was never in doubt. QB Ammon
Olsen threw TD passes to Drake Eckholdt, Chase Herbert and
Tyson Knowles as Alta led 28-0 after one quarter and 45-0 at
halftime. The Hawks emptied their bench after that.
What we learned from this game - The Warriors have not been able
to compete against any of their region opponents. Next week's game
against Hillcrest will determine how far they've fallen for sure.
Next: Taylorsville has its last game of the season, at home against
Hillcrest. Alta will play at Jordan for the region title.

Oct. 10 - Skyline 55, Taylorsville 13
Story of the game - Marc Taufa rushed for three touchdowns,
including an 80-yarder, as the Eagles jumped to a big lead and
downed Taylorsville in a cold, windy Region 2 game.
Taylorsville's best moment - Nate Azera finally broke loose late in
the game on a 73-yard run for the Warriors' only touchdown.
Taylorsville also got a field goal and a safety, but it was a tough night
overall.
Skyline's best moment - The Eagles' offensive output was their best
this season. RB Algernon Brown also had two scores as Skyline
took a 27-0 first-quarter lead. It was 41-3 at halftime and the "mercy
rule" allowed the second half to go quickly.
What we learned from this game - This was predictable. The easy
part of the season is over for Skyline, and we will learn a lot more
about this team in the next two weeks.
Next: Taylorsville travels to Alta. Skyline takes on Jordan in a key
Region 2 game.

Oct. 3 - Jordan 42, Taylorsville 0
Story of the game - QB Alex Hart threw five touchdown passes, and Jordan's defense recorded its first shutout of the season in a 42-0
Region 2 victory over Taylorsville.
Taylorsville's best moment - There were few, if any. The Warriors haven't scored more than 19 points in any game all season, so it was
pretty much over by halftime. This was their third straight shutout. Hopefully, Taylorsville's coaches can find a positive.
Jordan's best moment - The Beetdiggers were the most dominant they've been all season. Hart threw first-half TD passes for Braden
Hammond, Ty Spillman and two to Cory Hunt as they raced to a 28-0 halftime lead.
What we learned from this game - The Warriors are settling into the basement of Region 2. With Skyline and Alta on tap, Taylorsville's
lone chance at a region win will likely be the season finale.
Next - Taylorsville returns home to take on Skyline. Jordan travels to play Brighton.

Sept. 26 - Brighton 41, Taylorsville 0
Story of the game - RB Dallin Jackman rushed for 119 yards and scored four touchdowns as the Brighton offense came alive for the
first time this season and captured a convincing win over Taylorsville.
Taylorsville's best moment - Highlights were limited. The Warriors suffered their second straight shutout loss, and Taylorsville's
offense is near the bottom in scoring output.
Brighton's best moment - The entire fourth quarter, when the Bengals had the game in hand. Coach Ryan Bullett said, "It's just nice to
have a win. Our kids have been working hard. I'm really happy for the kids. It's nice to start region 1-0."
What was learned from this game - This was a game both teams needed because the Region 2 schedule is difficult. It's a huge
momentum boost for the Bengals, who are still trying to rebuild their program.
Next: Taylorsville goes on the road to play Jordan. Brighton travels to take on Alta.

Sept. 19 - Copper Hills 52, Taylorsville 0
Story of the game - QB Josh Soter completed 18 of 26 passes for 281 yards and the Grizzlies' defense stuffed several Taylorsville
opportunities and took a 52-0 win in a game closer than the score indicated.
Taylorsville's best moment - Special teams. The Warriors blocked three Copper Hills extra points and one field goal. RB Nate Azera,
who played a solid game at running back and took many direct snaps, atoned for one kickoff fumble by taking another kick 40 yards.
Copper Hills' best moment - The Grizzlies took advantage of their opportunities, and Soter threw five TD passes. Early in the game, with
CH holding a small lead, the defense turned back the Warriors twice in the red zone. Clint Jex had two more sacks. This was a shutout
well earned.
What we learned from this game - Copper Hills rebounded from a tough loss the previous week and now starts Region 3 play with a
better attitude. Last year, they suffered a tough loss to Taylorsville.
Next: Taylorsville opens region play with a home game against Brighton. Copper Hills travels to play Riverton.

Sept. 12 - West Jordan 44, Taylorsville 6
No information available.
Sept. 5 - Taylorsville 19, Murray 7
Story of the game - It was the Nate Azera show, as the junior RB ran for 229 yards on 23 carries (that's almost 10.0 yards per carry) to lift
Taylorsville to its first win of the season, 19-7, over rival Murray.
Taylorsvile's best moment - Azera had two TD runs - of 4 and 53 yards. Taylorsville led just 10-7 at halftime, but Azera's 53-yarder broke
it open in the fourth quarter and the Warriors also got a safety.
Murray's best moment - Trailing 10-0, Murray got a short TD run by RB Brandt Anderson. Despite giving up big rushing yardage, the
Spartans were still in the game. The offense has yet to pose a serious threat and has been responsible for just one TD in each of
Murray's three games.
What was learned from the game - This was a game between winless teams and Taylorsville earned it in its home opener. The win
also gives the Warriors a 12-8 edge in the series since they started playing in 1981.
Next - Taylorsville plays at West Jordan in a non-region game. Murray opens Region 6 action at home against unbeaten Cottonwood.

Aug. 29 - Riverton 57, Taylorsville 15
Story of the game - Riverton QB Davis Johnson threw two TD passes and Matt Maughan returned a kickoff 89 yards for a score that
opened the floodgates in the Silverwolves' big win over Taylorsville.
Riverton's best moment - The Silverwolves' offense rushed for 357 yards on 44 carries (over 8 yds a pop). Connor Evans ran 82 yards
for a score as Riverton never had to punt the entire game. The Silverwolves led 41-3 at halftime.
Taylorsville's best moment - RB Nate Azera rushed for 127 yards on 24 carries, and had TD runs of 8 and 17 yards. The Warriors
scored first on Matt Lusty's 31-yard field goal. Maughan returned the ensuing kickoff for a TD and, by the end Taylorsville scored again, it
was 51-3.
What we learned from this game - It was a big win for Riverton because it showed what they offense can do. Taylorsville is likely in a
rebuilding year, but this was a game about talent, not depth.
Next - Taylorsville returns home to take on rival Murray. Riverton will play at Pleasant Grove.
Links - The Salt Lake newspapers never reported on the game, and didn't even get the final score correct, so very little information was
available. Thanks to Taylorsville fan Tom Hatch for providing this info.
Aug. 22 - Granger 14, Taylorsville 7
Story of the game - Granger's Manu Samani was a workhorse, rushing for 104 yards on 18 carries, to lead the Lancers to a 14-7
non-region win over Taylorsville - the first of four straight home games. The Lancers led 14-0 at halftime and held on to the win.
Taylorsville's best moment - After getting behind, the Warriors didn't give up. They scored on what must have been a muffed or blocked
punt return by Taylor Mattson. Unfortunately, Taylorsville's offense never could break through.
Granger's best moment - The Lancers had to be feeling good after the first quarter, when they had a 14-0 lead. The other score game
on a 42-yard pass from QB Brentt Phillips to T.J. Tapusoa.
What was learned from the game - Both teams figured to start slowly. Granger has the advantage with four straight home games to
start the season, and that 1-0 record has to look good now. Taylorsville is still trying to find itself, and that will likely come with more
practice and game experience.
Next week - Taylorsville has to play on the road again - this time at Riverton. Granger takes on Roy (0-1) in another home game.
