Oct. 22 - Bingham 45, Taylorsville 7

Story of the game - RB Richie Vakapuna rushed for 102 yards,
and the Bingham defense intercepted four Taylorsville passes,
returning two of them for touchdowns, en route to an easy victory
that clinched first place and a top seed going into the 5A playoffs.

Taylorsville's best moment - The Warriors hung around through
the first quarter. QB Gabe Bloomfield hit Devin Keeling with a
7-yard pass for Taylorsville's only score. The Warriors never quit.

Bingham's best moment - This game was never in doubt, but the
defense played the biggest role. Kesni Tausinga and Travis
McRae returned picks for scores. Bingham scored 24 points in the
second quarter to break a 7-7 tie.

What we learned from this game - This was a tough game to
finish on because it was perceived to be such a one-sided affair.
The Warriors will need to work on their offense.

Next - Taylorsville is done for the season. Bingham advances to
the 5A playoffs and will Brighton or Jordan.

Oct. 16 - Jordan 54, Taylorsville 6

Story of the game - QB Alex Hart threw eight touchdown passes -
all in the first half - as Jordan cruised to a huge 54-0 halftime lead
and coasted to a win over Taylorsville in a non-region game.

Taylorsville's best moment - This was never a winnable gamefor
the winless Warriors. Taylor Heckenliable scored Taylorsville's
only touchdown on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Jordan's best moment - Hart's eight TDs gave him 37 for the
season, and he also moved past 3,000 yards for the season. Cory
Hunt grabbed three TD balls and Braden Hammon had two.

What we learned from this game - This was just a warmup game
for Jordan, which must win at Brighton next week to earn a 5A
playoff berth.

Next -Taylorsville ends its season at home against Bingham.
Jordan
travels to Brighton.

Oct. 9 - Riverton 57, Taylorsville 6

Story of the game - RB Dillon Draper rushed for 109 yards and
three touchdowns, and Jentz Painter returned a blocked punt 25
yards for a score as Riverton whipped Taylorsville and set itself up
for a Region 3 title bid next week.

Taylorsville's best moment - The Warriors battled back early in
the fourth quarter and got on the scoreboard on a 12-yard run by
Devon Keeling.

Riverton's best moment - This game was never in doubt. Riverton
led 36-0 at halftime. Draper led a rushing attack that accumulated
306 yards on the ground. Riverton emptied the bench in the
second half.

What we learned from this game - The Warriors have not been
able compete in region play, and ends the season with three
tough games.

Next: Taylorsville has a non-region home game against Jordan.
Riverton
plays at Bingham.

Sept. 30 - West Jordan 35, Taylorsville 13

Story of the game - Freshman Michael Moorehead emerged as
West Jordan's starting quarterback and accounted for 250 yards
total offense as the Jaguars downed Taylorsville in a Region 3
contest.

Taylorsville's best moment - The Warriors' defense played well in
the first quarter, but the offense had trouble putting together drives.
K Jared Stenberg had two first-half field goals. The Warriors
scored their TD in the fourth quarter on a 65-yard pass from Ryan
Stone to Nate Speth.

West Jordan's best moment - The Jags ran the ball more than
usual, and rushed for 235 yards. Moorehead had a decent game
throwing the ball. It's best that his first game was against
Taylorsville.

What we learned from this game - The Warriors had a chance to
pull off an upset with West Jordan's star QB out of action. An upset
is extremely unlikely for the rest of the season.

Next - Taylorsville plays at Riverton. West Jordan takes on
Bingham.

Sept. 25 - Copper Hills 27, Taylorsville 13

Story of the game - RB Colton Fogarty had his best game of the
season, rushing for 238 yards on 26 carries, and the Grizzlies'
defense kept Taylorsville from scoring until the fourth quarter en
route to their first win.

Taylorsville's best moment - The Warriors have had trouble
scoring all season, but came back in the fourth quarter. RB Nate
Azera scored Taylorsville's first touchdown and Ryan Stone hit
Nate Speth for the other score.

Copper Hills' best moment - Fogarty scored the first of his two
touchdowns in the opening quarter, and QB Quin Wright
connected with Chandler Johnson for a 14-0 lead. The Grizzlies
added two more scores in the third quarter.

What we learned from this game - This was a game between
Region 3's two weakest teams, and pretty much assured the
Warriors of the cellar. The season doesn't get any easier. It's time
to build for next year.

Next - Taylorsville plays host to West Jordan. Copper Hills goes to
Bingham.

Sept. 18 - Kearns 21, Taylorsville 0

Story of the game - QB J.R. Finai passed for one touchdown and
ran for another, but it was the Kearns defense that made the
difference, holding Taylorsville scoreless in this Region 3 game.

Taylorsville's best moment - The Warriors played great defense,
but you won't win many game when you don't score any points.
Taylorsville was blanked for the second time this season.

Kearns' best moment - The Cougars led just 7-0 in this
defensive-minded battle, but Finai hit Kevin Youndell on a
touchdown pass in the third period and then ran 18 yards for a
score in the final quarter to win its first region game.

What we learned from this game - This was the Region 3 opener,
and the Warriors offense was again a no-show. The defense
wasn't bad, though. Taylorsville needs some sort of spark ... and
soon.

Next - Taylorsville plays at Copper Hills. Kearns plays host to
Bingham.

Sept. 11 - Cyprus 29, Taylorsville 10

Story of the game - Albert Wolfgramm scored two touchdowns,
and the Cyprus defense played its best game of the season,
allowing the Pirates to break open the game in the third quarter in
a non-region game.

Taylorsville's best moment - The Warriors were in no shape to
rally, but Jayce Hansen got their only touchdown on a 58-yard
interception return. That cut the margin to 22-10, but that was as
close as they could get.

Cyprus' best moment - Cyprus led 7-3 at halftime, but broke the
game open on an 11-yard run by George Thomas and then T.J.
Thomas caught a scoring pass from Jordan Wager.

What we learned from this game - This may have been
Taylorsville's best opportunity to win a game this season, even
though it was away from home. Taylorsville's offense has not
shown any consistency so far.

Next - Taylorsville opens Region 3 action at home against Kearns.
Cyprus
goes to Hunter.

Sept. 4 - Murray 24, Taylorsville 9

Story of the game - Dee Hamala ran for one touchdown and
passed for two more as Murray broke a 19-game losing streak
with a win over Taylorsville.

Taylorsville's best moment - The Warriors owned the second
quarter. Damien Bradford hit a 25-yard field goal and QB Gabe
Bloomfield hit Andrew Togiai with a 28-yard scoring pass.

Murray's best moment - The Spartans trailed 9-7 at halftime, but
dominated the second half. The defense forced two fumbles and
intercepted a pass and led to Murray's intense celebration
following the victory.

What we learned from this game - This was a tough loss for
Taylorsville. The Warriors are still winless and now might be
considered the worst team in 5A. This is a rebuilding project, but
so far it's difficult to see the progress.

Next - Taylorsville has a non-region game at Cyprus. Murray
opens Region 2 play at
Cottonwood.

Aug. 28 - Brighton 55, Taylorsville 0

Story of the game - Darren Later rushed for 144 yards and Sosaki
Takai added 94, but the real story was Brighton's defense, which
showed last week was no fluke and held its opponent scoreless
for the second straight game.

Taylorsville's best moment - Before and after the game. Certainly
not during it. This was a learning experience for the Warriors, who
learned how far they have to go to compete.

Brighton's best moment - The Bengals' line play was outstanding,
as Taylorsville was never able to mount a drive, and finished with
zero yards passing (no completions). Brighton had 355 yards
rushing.

What we learned from this game - This wasn't a surprising, but
the way it happened has to be deflating for Taylorsville. The
Warriors were never in the game, and this game used to be a
competitive rivalry.

Next - Taylorsville travels to Murray. Brighton will play at Hunter.

Aug. 21 - Clearfield 21, Taylorsville 13

Story of the game - Darren Stapleton returned an interception 17
yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and Clearfield made it
stand up in holding off Taylorsville in the season opener for both
teams.

Taylorsville's best moment - The Warriors trailed 21-0 at halftime,
but rallied in the fourth quarter on a pair of touchdown passes from
QB Gabe Bloomfield to QR Andrew Togiai, but it was not enough.

Clearfield's best moment - The Falcons jumped on Taylorsville
early as Austin Ford scored on a 28-yard run and then QB Kolton
Young hit Jace Woodrow on a 24-yard TD pass. The pass
interception added to Clearfield's momentum.

What we learned from this game - Taylorsville didn't give up,
which it did a lot of last year, and their defense played well. The
Warriors didn't give up a point after halftime.

Next - Taylorsville plays host to Brighton. Clearfield starts Region
1 play with a home game against Davis.
