Statistical notes: Alta hit five three-point baskets, while Taylorsville
nailed four. The Hawks were 9-14 from the free-throw line;
Taylorsville was 7-13. The 39 points given up was a season best for

What we learned from this game: There isn't much difference
between some of these teams and the ones who win the close
games will be at the top of the standings.

Next: Alta plays at Brighton on Jan. 21. Taylorsville has a home
game against
Hillcrest the same night.

led Taylorsville with nine points, including a pair of three-pointers.

Kearns' best moment: This was a defensive-oriented game, and
the Cougars led most of the way. Kearns led 11-9 at halftime.

Statistical notes: Kearns connected on 9-12 free throws, most of
those late in the game. Taylorsville was 5-10. This was one of the
lowest-scoring games of the season for both teams.

second quarter, playing almost even with Riverton, but that was all.
Athena Mauga had 14 points and Saane Lo'amanu had 10.

Riverton's best moment: The Silverwolves jumped to an 18-6 lead,
and held a big lead throughout the first half. They dominated the

Taylorsville's best moment: The Warriors trailed 22-18 at halftime,
but rallied to close within two at the end of the third quarter. Sa'ane
Lo'amanu had 16 points to lead Taylorsville.

Clearfield's best moment: Taylor added 13 points and helped the
Falcons outscore Taylorsville 19-11 in the final quarter. It was - by
far- Clearfield's most explosive quarter of the game.

Statistical notes: Clearfield was 8-17 from the free-throw line.
Taylorsville was 15-24. Sa'ane Lo'amanu had a pair of
three-pointers for Taylorsville.

What we learned from this game: It was the season opener, so it's
hard to figure the affect this game will have. Taylorsville started
slowly last year and still fared well in region play.

Next: Taylorsville plays at Highland on Dec. 2. Clearfield goes to
Skyline the same night.
