Oct. 23 - Bountiful 45, Tooele 7
Story of the game - Mike Fabrizio rushed for 112 yards and scored
three times as Bountiful raced to an early lead and whipped Tooele in
the Buffaloes' final game of the season.
Tooele's best moment - The Buffaloes finished the season on a low
note, scoring their only touchdown in the fourth quarter when the game
result was already determined.
Bountiful's best moment - Fabrizio scored on runs of 29, 10 and 49
yards as the Braves built a 21-0 first-quarter lead and expanded it to
49-0 at halftime. Thankfully, the "mercy rule" allowed the clock to run
faster in the second half.
What we learned from this game - It's tough to play a meaningless
non-region game at the end of the season. The Buffs finished on a
six-game losing streak, but had the same record as last year.
Next: Tooele's season is over. Bountiful advances to the 4-A playoffs
and will have a home game against Highland.

Oct. 15 - Provo 49, Tooele 20
Story of the game - Provo QB Matt Griner completed his first eight
passes and finished with 229 yards through the air as Provo whipped
Tooele and ended the Buffaloes' post-season hopes.
Tooele's best moment - Milo Leakehe caught a long TD pass
from QB Chris Iorg on Tooele's first drive to make the score 7-0.
Iorg and Jordan Clemente added TD runs when the game was out
of reach.
Provo's best moment - Trailing 7-0, Provo went on fire. The Bulldogs
led 35-7 by halftime. With the win, Provo makes the post season and
the 49 point total was - by far - its best this season.
What we learned from this game - It has been a long season, and
Jordan Biorge's injury a few games ago hasn't helped. Tooele is
playing for pride when it takes on Bountiful next week.
Next: Tooele travels to Bountiful in a non-region game. Provo goes to
Timpview.

Oct. 10 - Payson 35, Tooele 6
Story of the game - The Payson Lions got some trick plays out of their
playbook, and the defense played tough, even blocking a punt, to rally
for a convincing win over Tooele and ruin the Buffaloes' homecoming.
Tooele's best moment - Jordan Clemente rushed for 78 yards and
had 52 yards receiving. The Buffaloes took a 6-0 lead on a 31-yard
pass from QB Chris Iorg to Clemente. Payson didn't take the lead until
the second quarter.
Payson's best moment - The Lions' trick plays was on special teams.
The Lions ran a successful onsides kick and they ran for a first down
on a fake punt. Both plays led to scores.
What we learned from this game - Clemente is doing a decent job as
Jordan Biorge's replacement. The offense, however, only scored one
TD for the second straight week. Region play is again proving to be
difficult for Tooele.
Next: Tooele travels to play Provo. Payson returns home to take on
Orem.

Oct. 3 - Timpview 40, Tooele 7
Story of the game - QB Casey Rumsey completed 13 of 22 passes for
228 yards and four touchdowns as Timpview won a state record 29th
consecutive game in an easy manner over Tooele in a Region 7 game.
Tooele's best moment - RB Jordan Clemente tried to pick up the slack
for injured RB Jordan Biorge. Tooele got on the board when Clemente
exploded for a 68-yard touchdown run. The Buffaloes also recovered
two Timpview fumbles in the second half.
Timpview's best moment - Travis Vanleeuwen scored three times for
Timpview, which led 26-0 at halftime and was never headed. Check
out Rumsey's quote: "At the end of the game, I thought 'we are going to
be remembered for a long time.' "
What we learned from this game - The talent difference between
these two schools is huge, so there was little chance of an upset. The
good news is that's over and Tooele can focus on their final three - all
winnable - games.
Next: Tooele takes on Payson in its final home game of the year.
Timpview plays at Orem.

Sept. 26 - Springville 38, Tooele 27
Story of the game - Jordan Biorge ran for 193 yards on 14 carries before leaving with a serious knee injury, but the Buffaloes' couldn't stop
Springville's passing attack in the Region 7 loss.
Tooele's best moment - The Buffaloes scored quickly as Biorge found running room on simple dive plays. He raced 57 yards for Tooele's
first score, then added an 80-yard run a few minutes later.
Springville's best moment - QB Isaac Allred passed for 316 yards and five TDs and was never really stopped. After the Red Devils
stopped Tooele, they just kept going. It was 24-14 at halftime and 38-14 after three quarters.
What we learned from this game - Biorge is likely out for the season, but at least he went out in style. Region opponents have been able
to score easier than Tooele's non-region opponents. Tough game next week.
Next: The Buffaloes return home to take on 4-A's top-ranked team, Timpview. Springville travels to Orem.

Sept. 19 - Mountain View 42, Tooele 7
Story of the game - Mountain View RB Anthony Heimuli rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns - including a 63-yard run on the
second play from scrimmage - as the Bruins never looked back in beating Tooele.
Tooele's best moment - Trailing 14-0, Tooele's only score came when a long run by RB Jordon Biorge set up a 15-yard pass from QB
Chris Iorg to WR Jordan Clemente.
Mountain View's best moment - Heimuli's running also set up the Bruins' passing. Mountain View scored on a halfback option pass in
the second quarter, then QB Dustin Thacker hit Chris Wright for another score. The game was never in doubt.
What we learned from this game - Tooele beat Orem last week, and had hoped that momentum would carry into this game. Winning on
the road - in Utah County - is difficult.
Next: Tooele hits the road again to take on a rejuvenated Springville team. Mountain View will play at Timpview.

Sept. 12 - Tooele 21, Orem 14
Story of the game - Chris Iorg and Jordan Biorge controlled the offense, and the Tooele defense sacked Orem's QB six times as the
Buffaloes opened Region 7 play with a victory over the visitors. The defense made the plays at the end.
Tooele's best moment - Turnovers boosted the Buffaloes' chances. Tooele jumped to an early 6-0 lead when it recovered a fumble and
scored shortly afterward. Later, trailing 14-6, the Buffs drove 80 yards and Iorg scored on a fourth-down play that tied the game.
Orem's best moment - The Tigers grabbed the lead in the waning seconds of the second period when QB Josh Hamblin hit Mitch Habel
with 18.4 seconds left in the first half to spot the visitors a 7-6 cushion at halftime. The Tigers marched 64 yards in nine plays with the
opening second-half kick to extend the lead.
What we learned from this game - Coach Ray Groth's team is 3-1 and has to be happy with that record at this time. Going into the game,
the Buffs were especially concerned with Orem's athleticism
Next: Tooele travels to Orem to play Mountain View in another Region 7 game. Orem has a matchup at Provo.

Sept. 5 - Tooele 34, Ben Lomond 7
Story of the game - RB Jordan Biorge had 167 yards and scored three TDs and teammate Milo Leakahe returned a kickoff 93 yards for a
score to lift Tooele to an easy non-region win over Ben Lomond.
Tooele's best moment - Leading 14-0, the Buffaloes gave up an interception return for a touchdown. Leakahe got the second-half kickoff
and took it back for a score that lifted Tooele's spirits and gave it the momentum for the win. It probably felt nice for coach Ray Groth's team
to have such a big lead.
Ben Lomond's best moment - The Scots are 1-2 on the season. Their only score came on a 43-yard pass interception return in the
second quarter. The offense failed to score.
What we learned from this game - This was a game Tooele should have won, and it puts the Buffaloes in good spirits going into region
action, which is full of difficult opponents.
Next: Tooele returns home and starts Region 7 play against Orem. Ben Lomond has the week off before going to Wasatch Sept. 19.
Aug. 29 - Tooele 15, West 10
Story of the game - Jordan Clemente ran for one touchdown and Mile Leakehe caught another from QB Chris Iorg as the Buffaloes won
their first game over West.
Tooele's best moment - In your first win, the best moment is almost always when the clock strikes 0:00. The offense dominated in the first
half, and gave the Buffaloes the lead. The defense played a key role in the second half, recording a safety following a poor punt snap and
that made the difference.
West's best moment - The Panthers trailed just 7-3 at halftime. Tooele was in the "red zone," but the Panthers' defense sacked Iorg on
the last play of the half and gave West a big momentum boost. Sure enough, the Panthers got a turnover to start the third quarter and
scored to take the lead.
What was learned from the game? The two teams are still trying to find out who they are. But coach Ray Groth got his first win, and the
Buffaloes did it with defense in the second half. For West, the Panthers need to find an explosive player.
Next: Tooele goes on the road to play at Ben Lomond, which is a winnable game. West plays at Woods Cross.

Aug. 22 - Cyprus 17, Tooele 14
Story of the game - When two old-school coaches get together you have to expect an old school game between linemen. But Cyprus QB
Chris Peel threw the football more than expected. In the end, it was a 26-yard field goal that decided the game, a close win for Cyprus for
the second straight year.
Tooele's best moment - Jordan Biorge had a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give the hometown crowd a boost. It was the
first time Tooele had the lead. Fans were on the edge of their seats the rest of the game.
Cyprus' best moment - Trailing 14-10, Peel hit Vinny Maribelle on a short touchdown pass to erase the deficit and give the Pirates the
comeback victory.
What was learned from the game? This game was two teams trying to get to know themselves and it ended up being a hard-fought win
for Cyprus, and a tough loss for Tooele, just like last year. Good teams win close games. Cyprus learned that last year, and it ended up
giving them a playoff berth.
Next - Tooele has another home game against West. Cyprus has its season opener against Kearns.
