Story of the game: Mike Brown had his best game of the
tournament with 22 points and Wasatch's defense put the clamps
on Judge to claim the 3A state championship with a convincing
victory.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps held a 10-8 lead after one
quarter and held Judge scoreless for over 10 minutes to take a
commanding lead. Wasatch held the ball for long possessions
and was able to spend most of the fourth quarter celebrating.
Judge's highlights: The Bulldogs made it to the championship in
what would be coach Jim Yerkovich's last game. The Bulldogs cut
the margin to 32-22 in the third quarter, but that was the closest.
Will Whitt led with seven points and six rebounds.
Statistical notes: The point totals were season lows for both
teams. The win snapped Wasatch's 9-game losing streak to
Judge. Wasatch scored 17 straight points before Judge scored.
What we learned from this game: The Wasps captured the 3A title
and finished with a 24-1 record. They were ranked No. 1 all year by
the Salt Lake media. They were 9-0 at home, 11-1 away and 5-0 on
neutral courts.

Feb. 26 - Wasatch 61, Hurricane 54
Story of the game: McKay Murdock led a balanced attack with 19
points and Wasatch edged Hurricane in a 3A semifinal, thanks to
great free-throw shooting and only two turnovers.
Wasatch's highlights: Wasatch held a small lead for most of the
game, but Hurricane rallied to take a two-point lead. The Wasps
took advantage of the foul differential, and a late-game technical to
drill five straight free throws and give them some breathing room.
Hurricane's highlights: The Tigers' Anderson Rich scored 21
points, including six three-pointers, and kept Hurricane in the
game. He picked up his fifth personal with :42 left. He was one of
three players to leave the game early. Zach Sorenson had 12.
Statistical notes: Wasatch shot 28-31 from the free-throw line.
Hurricane was 9-9. The fourth quarter was played at a frenzied
pace and the teams combined for 47 points. Mike Brown had six
steals.
What we learned from this game: This was a wild game, and
probably the best of the tournament. Judge beat Desert Hills in the
other semi.

Feb. 25 - Wasatch 63, Morgan 54
Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner tied his season high with 29
points, and Wasatch needed most of them to hold off Morgan in 3A
state tournament game at UVU in Orem.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps led most of the game, but put it
away with two big scoring runs in the second half, including a time
in the fourth quarter when they scored on eight straight
possessions. Jake Hobbs added 13 points.
Morgan's highlights: Morgan put a scare into Wasatch earlier this
season, and did it again here. The Trojans stayed close, thanks to
the scoring of Braden Saunders, Casey Evans and Trevor Ewing,
who hit three treys.
Statistical notes: Wasatch shot 20-29 from the free-throw line.
Morgan was 14-23. Mike Brown had just nine points. Bamgartner
hit 29 earlier this season against Timpview.
What we learned from this game: The Wasps advanced to play
Hurricane in one semifinal game. The other semifinal will be
Judge vs. Desert Hills.

Feb. 20 - Wasatch 62, Grantsville 34
Story of the game: Mike Brown scored 13 points and Jake Hobbs
had 11 as Wasatch put together to big scoring runs in the second
and third quarter and rolled past Grantsville in the first round of the
3A state tournament.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps led just 21-16 late in the second
quarter, but outscored Grantsville 11-1 to take a 15-point halftime
lead. The had a 10-1 run in the third period to put the game away.
Matt Pelo added nine points and McKay Murdock eight.
Grantsville's highlights: The Cowboys played tough defensively at
times, but never got their offense on track. Caleb Nesbitt and Eli
Hamm had eight points each, and Dalen Erickson came off the
bench to get six.
Statistical notes: Wasatch led 47-24 after three quarters and
emptied its bench. Murdock had two three-pointers and Trevor
Bamgartner one. Grantsville did not make a three.
What we learned from this game: The Wasps played their final
home game and had no trouble advancing to UVU for the rest of
the tourney. Grantsville finished with a 5-17 record.

Feb. 16 - Wasatch 67, Hunter 60
Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner scored 19 points and Mike
Brown 18 as Wasatch opened the fourth quarter with a 12-0 run
and held off Hunter in a non-region game.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps led 46-42 and then opened up a
16-point margin to win their only game against a 5A opponent.
Wasatch hit 14-20 free throws to clinch the victory.
Hunter's highlights: This was a close game throughout, and
Hunter rode Dimitri Saliba's scoring efforts to keep Wasatch
nervous late in the game. Brandon Peterson had his best home
game with 20 points and Saliba 16.
Statistical notes: Hunter dropped to 1-17 this season. This was
Wasatch's only game in the Salt Lake Valley. Saliba had three treys
for Hunter.
What we learned from this game: The Wasps go into the 3A state
tourney with plenty of momentum, a No. 1 ranking by the Deseret
News and high hopes.

Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner led a balanced scoring effort
with 12 points as Wasatch blitzed American Leadership Academy
with a big second quarter and earned the Region 10 win on "Senior
Night."
Wasatch's highlights: It was the Wasps final regular-season
home game and they got started quickly. Wasatch led 14-11 after
the first period, but outscored ALA 21-2 until halftime. Coach Hayter
emptied the bench and 12 player scored.
ALA's highlights: Trailing 51-18 going into the final period, ALA
outscored Wasatch 16-8 to make the score appear more
respectable. Kirill Jordan and Seth Anderson had eight points each.
Statistical notes: Wasatch has won every home game so far this
season. Mike Brown and Jake Hobbs added 10 points each.
What we learned from this game: It was a fun evening, but not the
last home game. Wasatch will open the 3A state tourney at home.

Feb. 5 - Wasatch 56, Union 42
Story of the game: Mike Brown scored 22 points and Trevor
Bamgartner had his best game in almost a month with 20 to lead
Wasatch past Union in a Region 10 matchup.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps pulled away in the second
quarter to take an 11-point halftime lead. Brown and Bamgartner
provided most of the offense, and Wasatch had six treys.
Union's highlights: The Cougars played well. With the exception of
the second-quarter lapse, they stayed with Wasatch. Colton
Jacobson had 18 points, including four three-pointers.
Statistical notes: Wasatch made just 14-25 free throws. Union
was 3-5. Braxton Nielsen had 10 points for Union. If you take away
the second quarter, this was a 38-35 game.
What we learned from this game: Wasatch got another good effort
from a region opponent, but still won its 17th straight. The bad
news is coach Hayter couldn't empty the bench until late.

Feb. 2 - Wasatch 56, Park City 38
Story of the game: Mike Brown, McKay Murdock and Trevor
Bamgartner were a constant thorn to Park City, leading the Wasps
in scoring in their Region 10 victory.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps defense was the story early,
helping earn an 11-4 lead. Wasatch kept that margin until pulling
away with a big fourth quarter.
Park City's highlights: The Miners played tough until things got out
of hand late in the game when they had to foul. Jon Schettler had
11 points and Brian Schettler added eight points and six rebounds.
Statistical notes: Brown had 17 points, Murdock 16 and
Bamgartner 12. Murdock had three treys. Wasatch shot 19-29 from
the free-throw line. Wasatch led just 37-30 entering the fourth
period.
What we learned from this game: Wasatch clinched the Region
10 title with this victory and earned a No. 1 seed in the 3A state
tournament. The team will try to avoid a letdown with the tourney
still three weeks away.

Jan. 29 - Wasatch 66, Carbon 38
Story of the game: Mike Brown scored 16 points and McKay
Murdock had 12 as Wasatch grabbed a big lead early and cruised
to a convincing Region 10 road win at Carbon.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps lit up the scoreboard for 25
points in the opening quarter. Trevor Bamgartner had a couple of
three-pointers and Brown had another. Coach Hayter was able to
empty the bench in the satisfying win.
Carbon's highlights: The Dinos came out and played sloppily, but
put together a better effort later. Justin Child had 10 points and
Keny Seals nine.
Statistical notes: Wasatch had balanced scoring and 11 players
reached the scoring column. The Wasps shot just 11-18 from the
free-throw line. Carbon was 13-18. Beau Rich had Carbon's only
three-pointer. Wasatch handily won the season series.
What we learned from this game: The Wasps cruised on the road
and won their 15th straight. The schedule gets easier now with a
series of home games.

Story of the game: McKay Murdock had the hot hand, scoring 21
points, as Wasatch pulled away from the American Leadership
Academy in the second half and earned the Region 10 win.
Wasatch's highlights: While ALA tried to bottle up Trevor
Bamgartner, Murdock broke loose and tossed in five
three-pointers. Wasatch led just 31-28 at halftime, but bumped that
lead to 13 points over the next eight minutes. Mike Brown had 14
points and Alex Probst a season-high 12.
ALA's highlights: Thatcher Lamb easily had his best game of the
season, scoring 26 points to keep ALA close. ALA led after the first
period, but Lamb didn't get much help. Zach Morrell added six
points.
Statistical notes: Each team had five three-pointers. Wasatch shot
16-18 from the free-throw line, while ALA was 6-8. The Wasps
improved to 9-1 in road games.
What we learned from this game: ALA gave Wasatch more trouble
than expected, but the Wasps have a target on their backs and will
get most team's best effort. Wasatch avoided the upset.

Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner and Mike Brown put on
another scoring show, combining for 39 points to lead Wasatch to
a comfortable win over Carbon in each team's Region 10 opener.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps took a 19-5 lead in the first
quarter, and then put the game away with a big effort in the third
period. McKay Murdock added nine points and Matt Pelo and Chad
Holmes had eight each.
Carbon's highlights: The Dinos had their moments, but they were
not able to cut into the lead. Daniel Peczuh was the top scorer with
14 points. Beau Rich and Keny Seals had 11 each.
Statistical notes: Both teams shot poorly from the free-throw line.
Brown had three treys for Wasatch. Carbon made eight
three-pointers.
What we learned from this game: The Wasps open region play

Brown had 18 as Wasatch escaped with a narrow non-region
victory at Morgan.
Wasatch's highlights: This game was close, and Wasatch helped
itself by hitting 18-19 free throws. Brown was the team's best
outside threat with four three-pointerse.
Morgan's highlights: Braden Saunders had 24 points for Morgan,
which had a chance to win the game at the end. The Trojans' Scott
Clark stole the inbounds pass, but missed the shot at the buzzer.
Statistical notes: Saunders had four treys for Morgan. The Trojans
were only 3-7 from the free-throw line. Morgan lost its third straight
game by three points or less.
What we learned from this game: Wasatch improved to 11-1 by
escaping Morgan's upset attempt. Bamgartner had his best game
in a while.

Payson's highlights: The Lions stayed with Wasatch for most of

11 points.

Story of the game: Mike Brown scored 13 of his season-high 31
points in the fourth quarter to help Wasatch pull away from
Evanston, Wyo., in a non-region contest.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps led just 48-42 going into the
final period, but outscored Evanston 20-7 to put the game away.
Trevor Bamgartner added 14 points and McKay Murdock 11.
Evanston's highlights: The Red Devils fell behind 18-10 in the first
period, but closed the margin until late in the game. Beau Ehlers
was the top scorer with 16 points. Jace Short and Jeff Lee had 11
apiece.
Statistical notes: Both teams shot over 70 percent from the
free-throw line. Wasatch had three treys, while Evanston had four.
Bamgartner averages 20.4 ppg, but has had just 21combined in
the last two games.
What we learned from this game: The Wasps once again avoided
a potential pitfall against a good Evanston team. The team also
didn't appear rusty after the Christmas layoff.

Dec. 22 - Wasatch 68, Emery 48
Story of the game: McKay Murdock and Mike Brown led a rare
balanced scoring attack as Wasatch showed its depth in blowing
past Emery in a non-region game.
Wasatch's highlights: The Spartans shut down Trevor
Bamgartner, but the rest of the team came through. The Wasps
used a 15-2 run in the second quarter to build a comfortable
halftime lead and were never pressured after that.
Emery's highlights: The Spartans came in ranked No. 3 among 3A
schools and made Wasatch adjust its game plan. Colton Barnett
led the team in scoring with a game-high 22 points.
Statistical notes: Murdock and Brown each had 13 points, Jake
Hobbs had 12 and Alex Probst 10. Bamgartner had a season-low

Dec. 18 - Wasatch 66, South Summit 39
Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner and Mike Brown were a
deadly 1-2 punch, combining for 53 points as Wasatch routed
South Summit in a non-region game.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps blew this game open early,
taking a 19-3 lead after the first period and expanding it to 40-12 at
halftime. Brown came back to score 29 points and Bamgartner 24.
South Summit's highlights: South Summit played with Wasatch in
the second half, but the outcome was no longer in doubt. Trevor
Lewis, Judd Rydalch and Jacob Flinders each scored eight points.
Statistical notes: Bamgartner had three treys, and Brown had two
for Wasatch. The Wasps shot 13-19 from the free-throw line. South
Summit was 8-13. South Summit dropped to 3-5 on the season.
What we learned from this game: Wasatch is dominating its 2A
and 3A competition. The Wasps have beaten every 2A school by at
least 25 points.

Dec. 15 - Wasatch 63, Bear River 50
Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner torched Bear River for 25
points, and McKay Murdock had a season high 19 to lead Wasatch
to a non-region home win over winless Bear River.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps took control of this game early,
claiming a 35-15 lead at halftime. Wasatch missed Mike Brown in
this game, but Murdock stepped up and the team held off Bear
River's comeback attempt.
Bear River's highlights: The Bears cut the margin to 11 points
going into the fourth quarter, but couldn't get any closer. P.J.
Stevenson was the top scorer with 10 points and 11 players
reached the scoring column.
Statistical notes: Wasatch shot 17-26 from the free-throw line,
while Bear River was 6-11. Bamgartner and Murdock each nailed
three treys.
What we learned from this game: This game was closer than it
should have been, but the Wasps avoided a scare.

Dec. 11 - Wasatch 67, Uintah 61
Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner had another big game,
scoring 28 points, and Wasatch connected on 9-10 free throws in
the final minutes to earn a tough win at Uintah in a non-region
game.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps held a small lead for most of
the game, but got a big three-pointer in the final minutes after
Uintah had cut the margin to three points. McKay Murdock added
nine points and Josh Hobbs had eight.
Uintah's highlights: The Utes had a nice crowd and put up a good
fight. Josh Ewell led Uintah with 21 points, including five
three-pointers. Gavin Bullock had 12 points and nine rebounds.
Statistical notes: Wasatch made 20-24 free throws, while Uintah
was 15-21. Uintah was credited for 14 assists on 19 baskets.
What we learned from this game: Wasatch has now played two
consecutive close games, and has proven it can win them. This is
another game that will help the team later.

Dec. 8 - Wasatch 65, Timpview 63
Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner scored 31 points and
helped Wasatch held off Timpview in overtime and picked up a big
win over a 4A power.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps grabbed a 19-6 first-quarter
lead and held a small advantage most of the game. Bamgartner hit
a trey in the OT to give Wasatch the lead and the Wasps took
advantage of technical foul in the final seconds to hang on to the
win.
Timpview's highlights: The Thunderbirds used a balanced-scoring
attack to rally and force the extra session. Trailing 64-63, Timpview
stole the ball and called an illegal timeout (it had none left) and that
cost them. Eli Robison had 15 points and Ky Raymond 14.
Statistical notes: This was Timpview's first loss. Wasatch hurt
itself by making only 13-27 free throws. Timpview was 16-20.
Bamgartner's 31 points was a season high (to date). McKay
Murdock added 11.
What we learned from this game: This was Wasatch's first home
game and the Wasps gave the home crowd a thrilling win.

Dec. 5 - Wasatch 65, Richfield 40
Story of the game: Mike Brown led the way with 21 points and
Trevor Bamgartner had 17 as Wasatch rolled to another
comfortable win at the 2A/3A preview in Richfield.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps led the entire game, and turned
a 19-point halftime lead to 58-25 by the end of the third period.
McKay Murdock added nine points.
Richfield's highlights: Richfield outscored Wasatch 15-7 in the
final period to make the final score appear closer. David Bean led
Richfield with 18 points and Tyler Thomas had 17.
Statistical notes: Wasatch shot just six free throws - and made
three. Richfield was 10-17. Brown and Bamgartner had three treys
each.
What we learned from this game: Wasatch improved to 3-1 overall
and each of its victories have been by 25 points or more. Wonder

Dec. 4 - Wasatch 59, North Sanpete 33
Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner had 20 points and helped
Wasatch build a big early, and the Wasps buried North Sanpete in
the 2A/3A preview in Richfield.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps jumped to a 14-3 lead and were
never threatened. They had a 20-point margin at halftime and were
able to empty their bench. Mike Brown added 10 points as 10
players scored.
North Sanpete's highlights: The Hawks played competitively in the
second half, but were not able to reduce the margin. Rhett Bird was
the top scorer with 12 points.
Statistical notes: Both teams made three treys. Wasatch shot
12-17 from the free-throw line. North Sanpete was 8-16. Sixteen
teams are competing in this tournament, but Wasatch is the only
school from Region 10.
What we learned from this game: The Wasps played well and put
this game away early. In addition, they had a chance to see future
opponents.

Dec. 1 - Springville 59, Wasatch 55
Story of the game: Raul Delgado and Geoff Prusack led a
balanced-scoring attack with 12 points each as Springville held off
Wasatch in a non-region game, despite a 24-point effort by the
Wasps' Trevor Bamgartner.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps held a small lead in the first
quarter and stayed close throughout. Wasatch had trouble inside,
but nailed six three-pointers. Mike Brown added 12 points and Jake
Hobbs 10.
Springville's highlights: The Red Devils earned their first win, but it
was hectic at the end. Springville had a big advantage at the
free-throw line. Matt Sumsion had 11 points, Kevin Critchfield 10
and Sam Sunsion nine.
Statistical notes: Springville made 15-26 free throws, while
Wasatch was 5-8. Geoff Prusak had five steals for Springville.
What we learned from this game: Wasatch dropped to 1-1 on the
season, but played a quality 4A opponent on the road. This game
will probably help more than it will hurt.

Nov. 25 - Wasatch 60, Orem 34
Story of the game: Trevor Bamgartner scored 16 points and Mike
Brown added 13 as Wasatch went on a 12-0 run in the first quarter
and downed Orem in both team's season opener played at UVU.
Wasatch's highlights: The Wasps trailed 4-0 early, then bolted
ahead and never looked back. Jake Hobbs and McKay Murdock
added seven points each.
Orem's highlights: The Tigers started well, but then Wasatch took
command. Orem rallied to get within 28-21 in the third period, but
that was as close as it would get. Sean Peterson had led with 12
points and nine rebounds.
Statistical notes: Wasatch emptied its bench and 11 players
scored. Austin Tuttle added 10 points for Orem.
What we learned from this game: Wasatch started the season
ranked No. 1 among 3A teams and showed why tonight, beating a
decent 4A school.
